Position Overview
Autodesk has set “digitization” as one of the three main strategic goals for the next few years. Digital Platform & Experience division was formed in 2017 for this and the FP&A-DPE team is the key financial advisor helping Autodesk to achieve this digitization goal. This Senior Finance Business Partner position will partner directly with the CIO and support the largest business unit in DPE division, the Digital Enterprise Services org, to drive more efficiency in providing technology solution to the whole company.
The right candidate for this role will demonstrate strong grasp of accounting principles to navigate through a complicated budget with both OPEX and CAPEX; strategic mindset to be a collaboration skills, financial aptitude, excellent business intuition, and the capability to work at multiple levels, including high level strategy and day-to-day financial details.
Autodesk is expanding our presence in Portland and this position will be one of the finance leaders for this site and the key representative for FP&A.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate and influence at the highest level
• Be the key financial advisor to CIO to aid in business decision-making and strategic planning, including the preparation of forecasts, financial modeling and investment analyses
• Lead development of the quarterly spend forecast and annual budgeting for DES, including cash flow forecast
• Analyze actual spending against budget/forecast
• Partner with two financial analysts to forecast and track all spend components
• Manage the quarterly close process, including quarter-end accruals
• Lead or participate in cross-functional, intra-divisional, and/or global finance projects
• Drive continuous process improvements to achieve better results
• Benchmark best practices in technology spend management
• Follow standards and ensure compliance with policies as defined by the company and Corporate Accounting
• Help to enforce controls to fulfill fiduciary responsibilities, including required approvals
How you will spend your day
• You will act as the “mini-CFO” for the Digital Enterprise Services org that you support and spend your time on these activities
• Partnering – You’ll be embedded among the DES leadership team, providing counsel on how to allocate resources to achieve intended strategic outcomes. Example: Advising business leaders on financial decisions/commitments that align with their most pressing priorities, in the face of various competing projects and limited resources
• Managing a sizeable spend portfolio - You’ll oversee budgeting, interim forecasting and execution of several spend portfolios. Example: reviewing internal research and development project with project leaders and accounting team to determine whether the development cost should be capitalized
• Driving strategic projects and initiatives - You’ll lead cross-functional projects throughout the DPE organization. Example: Collaborating with business leaders and corporate stakeholders to calculate the ROI for the initiatives that DES leads and help DPE leadership to prioritize
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (finance, business, accounting or engineering), MBA preferred
• 8+ years of financial analysis and business partnering experience
• Solid accounting knowledge about capitalization will be a strong plus
• Big picture orientation coupled with attention to detail, accuracy, resourcefulness, analytical nature, and follow-through skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong influencing skills
• Ability to work in an ever-changing environment and be self-directed
• BPC/SAP, Business Objects and Workday experience preferred
• Very strong Excel skills, particularly with regards to financial modeling and managing large volumes of data
