The Front-End Processor position provides support and information to clients and customers of SSRN's website and products. The position involves examining, editing and classifying paper submissions while ensuring adherence to SSRN's established styles and standards and verifying accuracy of citations and author information prior to online posting and eJournal distribution. Must have the ability to read and comprehend text rapidly and thoroughly, ensure the text is structured, and identify and correct any internal style inconsistency problems. Submissions may be complex in nature in which judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. The processor is also responsible for troubleshooting issues, responding to customer telephone calls and emails, assisting in the maintenance of customer accounts, and reporting technical problems. Attention to detail is essential for quality assurance. Candidates must be motivated by meeting standards and numbers set to improve their performance. May be called upon to perform additional tasks/projects as needed and must be able to attend staff/department calls.
Responsibilities
Processing English submissions (new and revised content)
a. Review and identify submission type (conference, book/chapter, full journal, religious, non-text, non-English, opinion, student, etc.) and apply relevant policy/protocol
b. Evaluate content appropriateness to determine accessibility and distribution eligibility
c. Full PDF examination and copyright compliance check
d. Identify and correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation and format
e. Maintain and update author records
f. Request documents and missing information from author
g. Subject matter identification and classification
Email and miscellaneous tasks (projects, reports, etc.)
Meetings/Calls
Training (onboarding and continuous)
Preferred degree in English, writing, communications, creative design or similar area
At least two years related experience, preferably in a publishing environment.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience examining, reviewing or editing documents a plus
Customer support/help desk experience a plus
Strong Time Management and Organizational Skills
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team with a willingness to learn and grow
Self-motivated and achievement oriented with a positive attitude
Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality - follows policy and work instructions

Must become fully knowledgeable of the company, its services, and its clients
Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint desired
Accomplished in obtaining relevant data via internet searches
Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention
Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment
Ability to work with a variety of people and across all organizational levels
Customer service skills are required to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships
