JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox Networks Engineering & Operations (NE&O) is seeking a passionate Sr. Network Architect to assist in the development of our next generation network infrastructure, network security policies, and other network related features within the FOX Broadcast Data Network (BDN). You will be part of a high-performance team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet our business objectives.
This Network Architect will be a member of the FOX NE&O BDN Team. A high impact, high performance team with responsibilities that include the FOX Broadcasting Network, My Network, FOX Soccer Plus, FOX Deportes, FX, FXX, FXM, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2 and supporting extremely visible and high-profile live events including the NFL, MLB World Series, NASCAR, US Open Golf, and World Cup Soccer.
Responsibilities:
• Design configuration and maintenance of an advanced network environment, responsible for the delivery of broadcast network solutions.
• Optimizing and evolving the current network standards for resiliency and performance.
• Build network configurations as code in a reproducible, idempotent manner.
• Create network automated deployments with a robust suite of unit-tests to ensure each push is self-tested before and after the roll-out.
• Design and develop scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet required business objectives, within Local and Wide Area Network environments.
• Take things apart and put them back together; break down complex systems into discrete needs and then drill into the smallest of details to ensure they are working exactly how they should. You don't accept things for face value and seek to improve what everyone else already thinks is impressive constantly.
• Working with a team of Network Engineers to manage and improve existing infrastructure to reflect constant technological changes and threats.
• Assisting in the maintenance and troubleshooting of network communications.
• Communicate with vendors to gather information about products, alert them to future needs, resolve problems, and address system maintenance issues.
• Identify and evaluate new systems, technologies and services frequently.
• Prepare detailed network specifications, including diagrams, equipment configurations and recommended technologies.
• Continually analyze and assess the technical needs and requirements of the existing environment and identify opportunities for improving solutions and services.
• Working within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
• Develop design principles, test plans, standards and processes based on industry best practices.
• Leverage and assist in the development of tools and processes to proactively monitor the health of the network and respond to events.
• Work with the broadcast data network team on deployment of new cloud-based initiatives.
• Innovate and lead architecture and design of next generation networks.
• Mentor, educate and train others to become technical leaders in specific spaces.
Required Skills:
• Proven ability to architect, implement and maintain complex network environments.
• Able to work in high-pressure environments, supporting critical on-air broadcast systems.
• Thorough understanding of networking technologies, including advanced administration of enterprise routers, switches and firewalls.
• Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in the areas of advanced networking.
• Solid understanding and proven experience using cloud computing technologies such as AWS and Google Cloud and configuring networking with and outside the cloud.
• Expertise with Palo Alto firewalls, Arista routers and switches, Juniper switches, Cisco routers, switches and ASA Firewalls.
• In depth knowledge of network security methodologies as a whole, including but not limited to ACLs, next-gen, deep packet inspection firewalls, IPS/IDS functionality and VPNs.
• In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Arista EOS and Palo Alto PANOS, JUNOS.
• Solid understanding of the OSI model, and a deep understanding of networking protocols such as IPSEC, DMVPN, VRF, NAT, QoS, 802.1Q and STP. First Hop Redundancy Protocols inc. HSRP, VSS, VARP and VPC. Routing protocols inc. BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
• Proven experience of deploying BGP-EVPN spine/leaf environments, with Type-2 and Type-5 VXLAN overlay networks.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with network automation methods and tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Go, Python, YAML, Jinja2, Git. We tend to be technology agnostic - whatever is the best fit for the job!
• Proven track record of converting the manually managed network infrastructure to managed via configuration management approaches with automated roll-outs.
• Detailed packet level understanding of network traffic.
• An individual contributor capable of self-directed work showing strong client/manager relationship skills, focused on driving the complete network project.
• Experience of data center related technology and collocation environments.
• Creation of technical diagrams and other network related documentation.
• Experience with monitoring and deploying, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
• Technical troubleshooting and problem determination.
• Ability to learn and assist in technical areas not related to networking.
Qualifications
• A minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in a Network Engineering role servicing large enterprise environments.
• CCNP (or higher) or equivalent certification highly desired.
• Working knowledge of load-balancers, NAC and various IPS/IDS systems.
• Knowledge of Cloud compute services and offerings.
• Knowledge of VMWare networking, NSX features a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and oral communications.
