Vice President, Live Action Scripted Development- Nickelodeon
Overview and Responsibilities
Nickelodeon is seeking a Vice President, Live Action Scripted Development to join their team in Burbank. They will direct and guide the continued growth and success of scripted programming at Nickelodeon. This position will report into the Head of Live Action Scripted Development and will have responsibility in all aspects of Development.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Develops and oversees a slate of scripted series
• Generates ideas for new show concepts and characters
• Solicits on brand programming for the channel and evaluates new submissions for consideration
• Manages the creation, development, and production of original programming, including series and specials
• Builds relationships with show creators and creative community
• Guides creators from the pitch stage through outline, drafts and production; formulates and drafts notes on scripts and cuts
• Reviews all aspects of production: budget, casting, scripts, communications, final delivery, and critique
• Primary liaison with all other network departments including Marketing, Ad Sales, Press, Research, Digital, Social and Business and Legal Affairs
• Acts in an ethical manner and adheres to the Viacom code of conduct policies at all times
• Encourages innovative thought and behavior and serves as an example to all staff employees
• Travel will be necessary as business dictates
Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of scripted development experience at a network, production company or studio preferably developing multicam comedies
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills and strong knowledge of script structure; must be proficient at writing notes and giving direction
Additional Qualifications
• Strong creative reputation with an established network of contacts and relationships within the industry
• An ability to communicate effectively with the creative community as well as the logistical and financial side of television production.
• Ability to effectively manage creative talent
• Must be able to independently supervise the development of a project from treatment to script
• Possesses the ability to work in fast-paced environment with a high volume workload
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital in order to liaise with a range of people and personalities, from channel executives to production staff, to talent agents and actors
• Extensive knowledge of the television and media industry
• Must have strong problem solving and decision making abilities and be able to manage conflict in a professional manner
