Seeking a Copy Editor that will support the high-volume Proposal Development department in our Iowa City office. Working closely with the proposal analyst, the Copy Editor supports the efforts of proposal development through careful and attentive copy editing.
Responsibilities include:
• Copy editing text for correct sentence structure, eliminating passive voice, etc.
• Correcting spelling mistakes and grammatical errors
• Reviewing text against a project-specific style guide (to ensure consistency in hyphenation, capitalization, formatting of references, acronyms, etc.)
• Editing text written by a number of authors to ensure consistent style
• Resolving queries directly with the proposal analysts, e.g., style and text inconsistencies
• Ensuring that graphics are correctly captioned and referred to in the text
• Possibly typesetting, formatting, and designing layout for proposal documents
Qualifications:
Ten + years of copy editing experience
Copy editing in education field strongly preferred
Undergraduate degree in English or Journalism preferred
