Job Summary
The Technical Project Manager II – Federal acts as the single point of contact for complex installation and construction projects for communication networks responsible for all Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) project activities. Working in conjunction with the OSP and ISP Managers, coordinates and oversees all aspects of projects from proposal development through financial closeout.
Job Description
• Defines projects based on customer requirements, schedule planning and implementation, budgeting, and quality control of customer deliverables
• Provides leadership and coordination for assigned projects using a matrix team concept
• Attends various governmental and general meetings
• Provides status updates to management and customers as required
• Updates the Program Manager weekly on the status of projects or as required. Provides inputs to written weekly reports to customers
• Manages and coordinate ISP projects from design through as-built delivery
• Performs Quality Checks (QC) on all drawings or As-Builts for assigned projects for delivery to customers as required by contracts
• Identifies all problem areas on jobs and discusses with Team Members and others as needed
• Keeps detailed records of daily work/project activities (Logbooks) for future reference
• Provides feedback on inspector employees to Lead Engineer
• Understands and adheres to company policies and practices
• Supervises Contract and Employee Inspectors, and Construction Crews, Engineers, and Redliners on a project basis
• Ensures the successful completion of customer project requirements
• Coordinates subcontractors, materials, inspectors, tools and equipment to complete projects on schedule and within budget
Qualifications
• Able to work extended hours on short notice
• Strong people skills
• Good penmanship, drafting and verbal skills
• Able to travel by auto or airplane on short notice for surveys, meetings, and inspection work
• Good physical condition - capable of working outside or in confined spaces; including standing all day and/or walking several miles
• Able to work on drawings and spreadsheets for extended periods
• Must possess a clean driving record
• Some local travel required
• Responsible Officer (RO) duties for tracking program equipment
• Education and Experience:
• Requires minimum three years of government related utility/communications construction management and follow through experience
• BS in Engineering/Management or equivalent work experience (eight years experience in construction engineering/management or communications discipline)
Security Requirements:
• US Citizenship required
• Active TS/SCI with Poly
• Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation)
