Responsible for complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements. Monitor financial control processes and ensure that accounting transactions are executed in accordance with established standards of internal control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Resolve a wide range of accounting issues in innovative ways
• Perform periodic testing of key internal controls, and alerts management to any control deficiencies in a timely manner
• Support both internal and external audits by providing necessary support
• Conduct special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods or procedures
• Analyze financial reports and records, making both accounting and operational improvement recommendations
• Review and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications
• Provide business partners and management with variance analysis including providing insight to identify causes and resolution of variances
• Provide functional advice or informal training to less-experienced associates
• Manage workload effectively and efficiently by prioritizing responsibilities
• Review, research and recommend improvements to analysis, reporting, and systems
• Respond to financial inquiries of operational management providing requested information for management of the business
• Coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or appropriate field of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum four (4) years progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Broad knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, practices and procedures.
• Ability to resolve routine issues exercising judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical skills coupled with problem solving abilities and a strong propensity for attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced or graduate degree/licensure (MBA/CPA) preferred.
• Experience working with SEC reporting and SOX control requirements preferred
• Prior experience with SEC reporting and SOX control requirements preferred.
• Experience in telecommunications / wireless industry preferred.
• Public accounting experience / Big Four a plus.
