Responsible for highly complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements. Actively monitor financial control processes and ensure that accounting transactions are executed in accordance with established standards of internal control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Resolve a wide range of accounting issues in imaginative as well as practical ways conferring with manager on unusual matters.
• Perform periodic testing of key internal controls, and alerts management to any control deficiencies in a timely manner; recommends and implements actions for improvement.
• Recommend and implement process improvements in financial and operational processes related to operations accounting; ensures adherence to GAAP.
• Serve as subject matter resource to team regarding fixed asset accounting related transactions, regulations, and issues; performs technical research in area including documentation of accounting issues and proposed guidance.
• Analyze financial reports and records, makes recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
• Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
• Manage workload effectively and efficiently by prioritizing responsibilities.
• Support external and internal audit requests and helps to ensure team’s compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements for assigned areas.
• Review, research and recommend improvements to analysis and reporting, as needed.
• Respond to financial inquiries of field and operations management providing requested information for use in effective management of the business.
• Provide functional advice or training to less-experienced associates.
• Acts as a team lead, training and mentoring less experienced associates.
• Acts as a representative of the accounting team at critical cross-functional project meetings.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum six (6) years progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of technical accounting and U.S. GAAP accounting principles.
• Deep understanding of internal control framework within a SOX controlled environment.
• Ability to resolve routine issues exercising judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational, project management and planning skills.
• Strong analytical skills coupled with problem solving abilities and a strong propensity for attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment without compromising attention to detail or accuracy.
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in developing solutions.
• Ability to work well independently and formulate recommendations for solutions.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and resolve issues.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced or graduate degree/licensure (MBA/CPA) preferred.
• Prior experience with SAP preferred.
• Experience in telecommunications / wireless industry preferred.
• Public accounting experience / Big Four a plus.
