ABOUT ENCORE BOSTON HARBOR
Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort that will feature 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. At a total cost of $2.6 billion, it is the largest private single-phase development in the history of the Commonwealth. Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor, Encore Boston Harbor will include a six-acre park along the water that will feature a harborwalk, an events lawn, public viewing areas, ornate floral displays and retail and dining experiences that overlook the Encore Harbor Walk.

The Encore Boston Harbor Paralegal of Our Legal Departmentwill be responsible for assisting the Department Attorneys in the delivery of legal services to Encore Boston Harbor and its subsidiary organizations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining processes, scheduling, supporting department team members including transactional and litigation attorneys, and maximizing opportunities for departmental success; maintaining all Encore Standards; and ensuring excellent guest and team member experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Keeps informed of all new developments within the department.
• Delivers professional internal and external guest service, which may require levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
• Balances multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.
• Drafts correspondences, memorandum and prepares legal documents for review and approval by the Department Attorneys.
• Conduct client and witness interviews.
• Organize and maintain case files.
• Manage and update various compliance and matter tracking systems and databases to assist in tracking and reporting on the various matters handled by the Department.
• Provide assistance to external legal counsel.
• Collaborate with corporate and property business partners to review and respond to records requests, subpoenas and related demands.
• Provide administrative support for Department Attorneys as needed.
• Perform advanced, diversified and confidential secretarial, administrative and paralegal duties requiring broad and comprehensive experience, skill and knowledge of organizational policies and practices.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment commensurate with specialized legal skills and experience.
• Conducts legal research.
• Strong knowledge of the practice procedures of the various governmental agencies involved in Labor & Employment matters (e.g. EEOC, NERC, DOL, Labor Commission, NLRB),
• Assist with investigation of complaints/claims filed against Encore Boston Harbor and subsidiary organizations with federal and/or state agencies, including gathering documents/information/data and conducting interviews of potential witnesses.
• Prepare responses, correspondence and other communications to various federal and state agencies for Department Attorney review.
• Draft various types of settlement agreements for Department Attorney review.
• Adheres to all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards.
• Actively contributes to the departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures, records and reports.
• Follows all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property wide.
• Delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction.
• Contributes to company-wide communication and best practices.
• Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.
• Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Age, Gaming and Certifications:
21 years of age or above.
Will be required to obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Education and/or Experience:
• High school or equivalent degree Required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant paralegal experience.
• Certificate of completion or degree from a paralegal certificate education program or other comparable post-secondary institution.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• .
• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
• Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designation preferred.
• Previous experience working in a similar resort setting preferred.
Requires general computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Must possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge of union as well as non-union working environments preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.
