Description
The Membership Manager reports to the Executive Director. The Membership Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the membership program including the application process, admissions process, certification process, and member benefits for all levels of membership. Additionally, the Membership Manager is responsible for the cultivation of new members and retention of current members. The manager has a front-line role in engagement with the membership.
The Membership Manager performs the following duties:
• Manage the application process for potential members; Maintain and stimulate membership development and retention, including use of social media.
• Organize, prepare and attend Admissions Committee meetings and attend Associates Committee meetings.
• Respond to all inquiries from current and prospective members and track activity.
• Prepare and implement membership renewal process.
• Ensure that the database is kept up-to-date with current and potential members. Work with colleagues to ensure that the membership can access and utilize website content.
• Represent the Association at professional and key events to cultivate new members.
• Organize, prepare for and attend Admissions and Ethics Committee meetings and participate in the planning and attend Associates Committee meetings.
• Respond and track Ethics issues.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years related work experience in the area of membership development for an association or non-profit. An advanced degree in arts or business administration is desirable. Candidate must have strong verbal, written skills; be highly organized with attention to details, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced non-profit environment. Additionally, the candidate is a motivated self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a team. Candidate must also have well-developed computer skills and experience in the utilization of a customized database.
