It’s about learning and growing
You’re dedicated, and that means your time as much as your effort. This 10-week, 40hr/week internship offers exposure to real-world business. As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. You partner with other accomplished and dedicated interns on research and cross-functional projects. You’ll have an opportunity to contribute real value and meaning to the larger organization.
Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the program kickoff May 29 and 30, professional development webinars, community service, and final presentations. As part of a peer community, you’ll contribute to cross-functional group projects, and should be ready to take on new projects as they come up.
What you can expect in this role
• High-Level Network Designs, Physical Fiber Documentation, Facility Migrations and Capacity Planning
• Responsible for assisting in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide Network Engineering Systems applications and their associated operating systems and databases
• Participation in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions
• Create support documentation for our third-party products to aid in their support and administration; as well as, documenting system configurations and upgrades
• Learn to configure and expand systems in the existing environments
• Install, administer, configure, and maintain Network Engineering applications including operating systems and related software
• Work with teams to configure, test, and maintain current and future platforms
• Perform additional duties related to this position as requested by a manager
Here’s what it takes to get started
Skills and experience required for this role include:
• Entry level knowledge of networking technology including routing protocols, subnetting, and optical transport
• Proficient knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Office and Visio
• Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
