Supply Chain Function

Position Description
Reporting into the VP Supply Chain, the Demand Forecasting Director is responsible for managing the demand forecasting function for North America products. This individual will be responsible for overseeing delivery of monthly forecasts, engaging with sales and product portfolio teams, coordinating with supply planning team, improving forecast accuracy and driving operational improvements.
Key Deliverables
• Build, motivate and manage a team of experts to deliver our NA forecast. Ensure all team members fully understand how to operationalize our strategy and can provide our internal clients with all the tools / expertise required to drive targets and goals
• Develop accurate demand plan, ensuring structured approach to gathering inputs from sales and product portfolio teams
• Drive process improvements required to both enable higher quality inputs from sales/product and seamless hand off to supply planning function
• Recommend and oversee tuning of planning parameters and product categorization to help drive improvements
• Oversee monthly forecasting process and drive back-to-school (twice a year) process, ensuring sign off on forecast from key Pearson executives. Accountable for quality and timely completion to support back-to-school supply planning / manufacturing
Qualifications
Essential Skills/Experience
• Demonstrable experience in leading team of demand planners
• Demonstrable experience of Sales and Operations Planning, S&OP within a publishing, e-commerce or retail environment
• Demonstrable project management and continuous improvement experience e.g. Six Sigma
• Experience working with demand planning platforms e.g. Logility and their interfaces to ERP’s for example Oracle eBusiness
• Experience of operationalising strategy within an organization undergoing significant transformation
• Ability to define and implement planning processes including experience leading an Integrated Business Planning process (i.e. S&OP) at the functional and executive level
Desirable Skills/Experience
• Familiarity with value drivers and customer requirements within a print/publishing environment
• Experience in supply chain process improvements including forecasting accuracy, service level and inventory optimization
• Experience of end to end supply chain interactions and interdependencies including management of 3rd party vendors and suppliers
• Relevant postgraduate qualification and CI certification (e.g. MBA, Masters in Operations/Supply Chain, Six Sigma/Lean Six Sigma etc.)
• Experience of deploying and running an S&OP process within a multi ERP environment
