ROLE
This person will supervise a team of Page Production Specialists and act in a leadership capacity for the Baltimore location. They will direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities, manage schedules and work under the constraints of very tight deadlines. Must display effective interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications and have the ability to analyze materials and systems. The Page Production team is primarily responsible for layout, classified and ROP pagination operating in a Shared Service model.”
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to the following list and the employee may be asked to perform other duties as needed to meet company objectives.
• Supervises and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the pagination and or layout of all Tribune Publishing print products.
• Ensure all deadlines for Advertising, Editorial and Production are met on a daily basis.
• Monitors employee performance and generates necessary documentation, including performance appraisals, development plans and performance improvement plans.
• Collect data, analyze and prepare reports pertaining to individual and departmental productivity.
• Monitor network activity and output capability/availability to ensure timely delivery of product.
• Cross-train, coach and mentor staff.
• Cooperate in accomplishing all division goals as directed by manager.
• Works closely with other Shared Services Ad Operations areas across business units, Manufacturing and Distribution, Editorial and Advertising departments to assure a smooth and timely workflow.
• Responsible for ensuring work schedules are properly aligned with workflow and section close commitments.
• Assists with the development of new policies and procedures related to increased quality, productivity and work environment.
• Participate in the creation of SOPs and ensure all staff adheres to SOPs.
• Recommends to management needed changes in staffing, equipment and systems and processes required to meet company/division/department goals.
• Meet or exceed individual goals as set by the department.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently or in cooperation with technology teams.
• Capability to fully understand and perform all the tasks for the Page Production Specialist or that of a Lead.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in graphics arts or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Three to five years experience in the electronic publishing field with particular emphasis on page production.
• Comprehensive knowledge of page layout, graphics and text applications for PC, Macintosh or comparable graphics system.
• Must display effective interpersonal skills to include areas of negotiating, motivating, written and verbal communication, analyzing material and systems.
• Demonstrated abilities in conflict management, independent thinking, problem-solving, consistent decision-making and analytical skills.
• Work under the constraints of very tight deadlines and stressful situations.
• Must be able to work all shifts including holidays and weekends.
