What You’ll Do:
As the Senior Director of Product Operations, you will report to the SVP Consumer Products, helping a cross-functional product design, management and technology team of more than 200 employees contribute as much as possible to the growth of our digital businesses. You will effectively serve as the group’s ‘chief operating officer.’
To succeed in this role, candidates must have exceptional emotional intelligence and proven internal communication skills to effectively lead continuous improvement initiatives.
We are looking for a confident, dynamic leader who will:
• Provide mentorship and professional development to a team of project managers; empowering them to effectively facilitate collaboration, remove obstacles and help software development teams do their best work
• Help define and champion individual development plans for each project manager, highlighting growth and growth opportunities, encouraging ownership and accountability
• Work with project managers to identify and address gaps in process, communication, and coordination across teams and divisions
• Establish and advocate for “common sense” standards and norms, setting appropriate incentives to motivate people in all roles to hold each other accountable
• Help hone and grow key sensibilities and skills across all disciplines of the Product team
• Focus senior leadership team and help optimize collaboration
• Coordinate production of materials for QBRs, OKRs, roadmap updates, board meetings
• Manage the day-to-day business operations of the division
• Act as central point of contact for Audit, Business Development, HR, Finance, Legal, etc. for compliance, data governance, forecasts, procurement & recruiting priorities, etc.
• Oversee short and long-range planning and expense management as well as the annual operating and capital budgets for the division
• Help foster a culture of accountability, integrity and teamwork across all aspects of the product development and delivery lifecycle
• Help set aggressive yet practical goals, with clear and measurable objectives
Success looks like highly-engaged teams who are working efficiently and transparently to accelerate the company’s path to achieving its digital audience and revenue goals.
Qualifications:
• 15+ years working with consumer-facing digital teams, ideally in the media space.
• 5+ years of program or portfolio manager responsibilities with increasing responsibility.
• Fluent in software development project management tools and methodologies.
• Able to think critically and constructively about complex operational challenges, clearly communicating analysis, identifying opportunities and presenting practical solutions.
• Able to effectively present and explain results with quantitative information.
• Understand relevant web design and development technologies with the ability to effectively engage engineering teams, and relay their feedback to stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Decisive with a bias towards action; must thrive in fast-paced, agile environments.
