Research Manager - InStyle & Real Simple
I. Job Summary

An always stimulating and fun position for someone with a passion for style, beauty, and lifestyle/cooking/DIY. Interest in celebrity and entertainment also a plus. Manages primary research initiatives for InStyle and Real Simple working in close partnership with editorial, ad sales, and marketing staffs for both print and digital platforms. Helps spearhead research and strategic analyses that provide insightful editorial feedback, compelling ad sales and consumer stories, and enhance advertiser partnerships.

Primary Research Support
• Support Research Directors in objective setting, design, and execution of custom quantitative and qualitative research projects including questionnaire development, testing, implementation, analysis, and presentation of findings
• Oversee supplier performance on projects (e.g., costs, quality, timeliness, deliverables), and participate in supplier selection
• Share research learning across client groups (Edit, Consumer Marketing, New Product Development/Licensing, Marketing, Sales)

Panel Management and Support
• Manage proprietary consumer panel needs and custom panel research for InStyle and Real Simple working with team in Bangalore and contacts at RSI
• Review survey links, email communication, and report drafts created in Bangalore
• Identify new ways to engage panelists

Secondary Research Support
• Add value through proactively leveraging existing research along with broader category research knowledge and consumer trend information
• Work with Sales Strategy & Insights team to identify research opportunities in relevant categories

Administrative
• Oversee monthly budgeting reconciliation for InStyle and Real Simple
• Update VP on status of in-progress and completed projects
• Assist Research Director and/or VP on ad hoc requests
• Interface/update with Bangalore counterpart on monthly basis

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
College graduate: prefer degree in communications, media, marketing, marketing research, journalism, psychology, or math/statistics; others may be applicable depending on area of study.
Experience:
2-4 years of experience in research, media, marketing, and/or communications
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with questionnaire development and quantitative research
Strong aptitude to comprehend, summarize, and draw conclusions from varied sources of research information
Superior written and oral communication skills:
• Distill data into evocative, memorable, insightful stories that drive decisions
• Create visually stimulating presentations and themes with actionable takeaways
• Creatively synthesize and streamline data
• Develop engaging, compelling, persuasive presentations
Excellent analytical and brand positioning capabilities
Ability for innovative and creative thinking
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
