I. Job Summary
Major goals and objectives.
The Art Director oversees the design and visual aspects of the entire magazine. This position collaborates closely with the Creative Director to ensure a consistent visual identity across all brand related products, including tablet editions, website, digital products, and special projects. In addition, this position:
• Works closely with Creative Director, Photo Director and editors to conceptualize, research and plan visuals for magazine and tablet editions
• Manages, directs and mentors art department staff. Hires and trains new employees, including freelancers and interns.
• Oversees daily workflow and layout releases
• Works with photo/edit/production staff to monitor and meet all production and shipping deadlines
• Works with pre-press vendor to review color correction
• Works with production and art depts. to ensure quality control on designs

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Minimum of three to four years’ publication design.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expertise in Graphic Design, typography and concept development.
Knowledge of photographers, illustrators, and stylists.
Good computer skills including ability to work in CS6.
Expertise in editorial design and continuity.
Experience with photo shoots and on-set art direction.
Understanding of color correction/retouching process.
Ability to maintain high quality standards under tight deadlines.
Ability to communicate visual concepts to people who are not necessarily visually directed.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and multi-tasking skills.
