I. Job Summary

WNEM, a Meredith Corporation TV station, is recruiting for an exceptional Anchor/MMJ to join our team. The WNEM Anchor/MMJ researches material, shoots video, writes and edits news material for broadcast, and all WNEM platforms. This will be done either working alone or in tandem with other field personnel. This position develops and covers news stories in the field which are consistent with the station’s brand and editorial philosophy. This individual will also present news in some of the station’s broadcasts. The successful candidate must have a strong on-air presence and be able to create content for multiple platforms. The Anchor/MMJ contributes live shots utilizing microwave, satellite and other technology for feeding stories to Content Center. This person may also be asked to perform community outreach activities for the station as an emcee or host.

Writes, shoots and edits news stories, presents live in the field and from the studio; contributes enterprise story ideas for broadcast and digital platforms. Performs live reports on a daily basis. Provides daily story notes, along with ideas for future stories.

Delivers news and introduces content from local news reporters, sports and weather as well as external sources in accordance with program outline. Delivers unscripted breaking news coverage and special event coverage.

Collaborates with producers and news management in the development of content for news shows, promotions, and online. May appear in promotions as assigned.

Generates, produces and delivers high profile special reports.

Builds story contacts, and as ambassador for the station. Takes part in community events serving as emcee or host.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
At least two to three years’ experience as an Anchor or MMJ at a commercial broadcasting station.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess excellent verbal and communication skills.
Able to shoot, write and edit packaged reports.
Ability to handle live coverage, including breaking news and changing situations.
Ability to interpret information quickly and summarize into a clear, concise, relevant and understandable presentation.
Organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
Write for the web, and have strong social media skills.
Must possess advanced understanding of legal and ethical issues impacting journalism.
Must be a skilled communicator capable of speaking to a diverse audience and conveying messages effectively.
Must possess a valid Driver’s license and have a good driving record.
