EverydayHealth.com, the leading health and wellness digital platform, seeks an intern with strong social media, writing, and creative brainstorming skills to join our close-knit, mission-driven editorial team. (SEO, graphic design/illustration/video production or editing experience preferred.)
The right candidate will have knowledge of the digital publishing space, a passion for health and wellness, and be social media literate, as well as be a skilled and creative communicator and content creator.
This is the ideal opportunity for an undergraduate or recent graduate looking to work in a creative, fast-paced environment with award-winning health and medical journalists. Social media interns will be responsible for learning brand voice/tone, aesthetic in order to create compelling social posts across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, as well as community manage and engage with our audience. Besides managing social media and being mentored by a team of seasoned integrated digital marketers, the social media intern will be asked to keep track of and alert editors of social-friendly trending news. They will also be allowed to pitch, report, and write articles for the website if time allows outside of the social media team asks. This person will gain insight into industry-wide best social media practices, and be exposed to other content marketing teams such as SEO, paid social, email marketing, affiliate marketing and more in order to build knowledge base of the strategy that goes into social media marketing.
While this paid internship is based in our lower Manhattan offices, we will work around the right candidate’s schedule, recognizing that education comes first. At the end of the internship, the successful candidate will gain invaluable knowledge and experience being the voice of a successful digital brand.
• Manage social media posting day-to-day on Facebook and Twitter — occasionally help with Instagram and Pinterest
• Learn how to create insights from analytics data and will develop strategic reporting knowledge from social media editor
• Help social media editor identify social trending conversations via CrowdTangle
• Create socially engaging graphics and other fun creative assets to repurpose and post across social channels
• Develop workflows
• Support the overall editorial needs of the website by writing articles
The IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS
• Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program or recently graduated from an accredited university/college program
• A ravenous appetite for consuming and spotting trending, relevant heath news
• Unique storytelling abilities across mediums
• Strong writing, editing and fact-checking skills
• Interest in and knowledge of digital media
