It’s about learning and growing
You’re dedicated, and that means your time as much as your effort. This 10-week, 40hr/week internship offers exposure to real-world business. As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Partner with other accomplished and dedicated interns on research and cross-functional projects. You’ll have an opportunity contribute real value and meaning to the larger organization.
Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 29 and 30, webinars, community service, and final presentations. As part of a peer community, you’ll contribute to cross-functional group projects, and should be ready to take on new projects as they come up.
What you can expect in this role
• Audit balance sheet for prepaid rents and security deposits - pulling reports out of Harbor Flex and comparing to the worksheets from accounting on the balances and recommending adjusting entries to balance the two
• Reconcile month end close for rent on some locations to give them experience at looking at the general ledger of what was paid versus what was expected to be paid and recommend journal entries for corrections.
• Assist in month end close for accruals for corporate services which will help them the balance sheet and income statement
• Storage project - research all locations that are currently paying storage within the organization and do analysis on the cost of storage compared to what is being stored and if there is opportunity to combine or remove storage locations. This will give the candidate an opportunity to learn to work with other business units within the organization
• Set up new models based on 2019 data for the upcoming 2020 budget year to predict / budget expense

Skills and experience required for this role include:
• Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
• Advanced Excel skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
