The Graduate Acting Program at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts seeks applications for a Full-Time Assistant Arts Professor to teach Acting commencing the Fall of 2019. Ideal applicants are teacher/directors with significant practical and academic expertise in teaching at the graduate level and working with designers in a professional production setting. Additionally, expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Shakespeare, global theatre traditions, the Black Arts Movement, contemporary or classical heightened poetic text.
The Graduate Acting Program has an extensive conservatory curriculum that combines the rigorous classroom study of acting with annual production work. The successful applicant will have both a grounding in theatrical traditions and an interest in developing and exploring new tools for teaching actors into the future.
Employment responsibilities typically include five courses each year (including production directing responsibilities), along with professional work/research and committee service. Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.F.A., or M.A. in a relevant field at the time of the appointment.
