Line Producer, Short Form Production - Nickelodeon
Overview and Responsibilities
The Short Form Production Group (SFP) is a nimble team focused on the production management and close support to Brand Creative groups. Content created includes; Promos, Image Campaigns, Still Photography (key art, gallery, press), Integrated Marketing, Show Opens, Social, Digital, and/or any marketing project or initiative requiring logistical support and problem-solving expertise.
The Line Producer is a physical production expert with the ability to produce and manage complex in-house and/or 3rd party productions. Lead and manage freelancers and direct reports. The candidate will be self-starter, motivated, quick thinking, flexible and thorough. This is a demanding and fast paced environment requiring proactive and positive thinking and must exercise good judgment, show initiative and be a team player. He or she should be able to juggle multiple responsibilities and projects with a laser focus on organization and attention to detail while being flexible and capable of prioritizing shifting priorities and deadlines. Must possess ability to anticipate production and non-production challenges and be able to bring awareness to stakeholders as necessary. Must keep an eye on the bottom line and seek efficiencies, implement cost savings measures, vet 3rd party budgets, including breakage. Use internal resources to the maximum benefit of any and all projects including using human and other resources. Be a continuous champion and promoter of creative 1st.
• Partner, support and collaborate with Brand Creative group and support them with any production needs
• Oversee the overall budget for Brand Creative, both On-Air & Off
• Approve and manage all non-project related expense
• Meet with stakeholders and any department heads to update and advise on budget status and needs. Report all budget updates to Finance
• Track spending to meet Quarterly estimates
• Have an extensive working knowledge of financial processes, including corporate and production spending, corporate cards, p-cards, and petty
• Generate individual production budget estimates and manage through actualizing
• Archiving materials, information per SFP procedures on shared drive
• Expert in production management with ability to Line Produce to commercial specification small to large in-house productions as well as oversee 3rd party productions
• Creates, implements and drives highly effective production plans for physical production, motion and still, while collaborating and working with creative producers, project managers, directors, and executives
• Provides input, feedback in all phases of production to ensure that the creative vision can be delivered and produced successfully while meeting operational, financial targets and desired production value
• Hires, negotiates and clearly defines rates and working conditions to freelance personnel: Directors, AD’s, Production Designers, Art
• Directors, DPs, Still Photographers, Costume Designers, Make-Up, Grips, Electrics, crew, talent, etc.
• Source and/or vet 3rd party production companies and still photographers
• Expert negotiator with obtaining favorable deals and discounts with vendors
• Oversee any direct reports and provide mentorship, training and feedback. Complete Annual development reviews and plans
• Work with cross functional partners: Business and Legal Affairs (BALA), Risk Management, Finance, Safety, Labor Relations (inclusive of all union entities – DGA, AFTRA, IA, and Teamsters), Production Technologies, Human Resources, MML, Music and Talent and Employment Law.
• Limit liability exposure to Viacom.
• Deep technical knowledge of electronic film making process
• Communicates effectively to disseminate information to internal and external stake holders
• Is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of production staff, internal and freelance.
• Ensure that agreements, contracts and releases are created and fully executed
• Oversees PC, P-Card and mangers checks per project.
• Ensure on-set safety by working with Viacom Safety
• Oversees payroll of freelancers and ensures labor law is followed.
• Maintain and seeks out experienced and high quality freelance staff and crew
• Research, curate, and develop relationships with vendors, while continually analyzing cost efficiencies
• Fulfill other duties and tasks as requested by the project lead or supervisor
Basic Qualifications
• 6-8 Years + physical production management experience
• Must be able to travel, mainly domestically, some international possible
Additional Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree preferred
• Ability to work in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Professional, self-motivated, results-oriented with a “can do” “roll up sleeves” attitude
• Able to respond after business hours to urgent and timely issues
• The ability to maintain confidential information
• Inquisitive and willing to continue learning
• Able to look at improving standard operating procedures and internal processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, and become proficient with OneDrive, Google Applications, Showbiz Budgeting, ShowMgr, SAP, Concur
