JOB DESCRIPTION
The Fox Network Center in The Woodlands, Texas is in search of a Master Control Operator Trainee. In the 90 day training period, the trainee will learn the department's policies, procedures, practices/processes, and equipment. The employee will gain confidence working in a broadcast environment by learning to monitor on-air quality for one or more networks and how to correct basic on-air problems. Also, they will be expected to understand all functions performed by Master Control. The 90 day training will consist of class room work, simulation and direct hands' on training.
Responsibilities:
• Verbally communicate problems (real and perceived) to Supervisory staff
• Documenting incidents and discrepancies as needed
• Knowing how and when to communicate with sites and studios regarding accurate start and end times for live event segments and the airing of promotions
• Making necessary adjustments to appropriate lists and logs
Understanding the importance of:
• Maintaining compliance with applicable regulations
• Communicating with other departments by maintaining transmitter and discrepancy logs, equipment incident report, daily reports of records, and the Master Control Log
• Remaining current on technology
• Developing professional contacts with team members, supervisors, managers, and peers within other departments
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Television or Computer Science is preferred, or equivalent work experience
• Knowledge of Video Production and Computer Based Switching Equipment is preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required with ability to articulate on-air problems to the supervisor on duty
