Assistant Buyer - Gift
Job Description
As the Assistant Buyer you are responsible for assisting the Buyer with the merchandising, planning, and managing product categories in assigned area of responsibility across 650 retail stores, BN.com, and two distribution centers.
Essential Functions
• Assists the buyer with all aspects of managing the buying area of responsibility within the Gift Department.
• Responsibilities include title management and maintenance, purchase order execution and tracking, inventory distribution to stores, distribution centers and BN.com.
• Works closely with cross functional partners, including store operations, to ensure the merchandising vision is executable in stores.
• Coordinates execution of merchant led tasks with internal cross-functional partners and vendors
• Performs scheduled and ad hoc reporting to be used in analysis of business trends.
• Assists the buyer with planograms for all promotions within assigned area of responsibility.
• Communicates with publishers regarding the status of orders, publication date changes and promotional quantity needs.
• Calculates and executes allocations.
• Coordinate calendar deadlines with buying team to ensure department deliverables are met.
• Additional job duties or responsibilities may be assigned.
Qualifications
• Able to work and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast-paced, highly operationally complex environment with an area of responsibility that spans an incredibly high breadth of titles.
• Strong analytical background and data entry management skills
• Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills
• Proficiency in all Microsoft applications, highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Works well under deadlines, self-starter, team-oriented and customer-focused
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong internship experience in retail environment highly desired
