The role leads a team responsible for developing the emerging technology products, services and solutions roadmap and associated requirements for U.S. Cellular in the areas of device, business solutions, advanced subscriber services and associated monetization.
The role works closely with engineering, IS and other key internal and external partners to develop actionable product strategy and present the business case for implementation to senior management. The role leads product requirements, quality, development and implementation of the device lifecycle support roadmap.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develops and leads ideation for advanced product features and functions and feasibility of product technology roadmap by working with customers, frontline and marketing.
• Manages the advanced product technology roadmap for the marketing organization, collaborating with engineering in the development of business cases as required to rationalize network evolution.
• Facilitates and drives requirements for new emerging technologies and directs work of team, cross-functional and external business partners as appropriate to implement.
• Works with Engineering and information services to define product and service architecture and technical infrastructure options.
• Leads roadmap and development of a suite of solutions targeted towards the business channel.
• Partners closely with device manufacturers, OS providers, and search companies in the realization of Rich Communications Suite (RCS) services and their associated monetization.
• Leads development of the Terminal Device Requirements (TDR) for the marketing organization, focusing on ensuring alignment to developments in the ecosystem and regulatory environments.
• Responsible for the life-cycle Quality and Maintenance of all devices and services on the network, including development of support platforms (FOTA / TR-069) and driving remedy for poor performing products and services
• Leads the development of solutions targeted towards simplifying the consumer switching experience, including content transfer and utilization of bring your own device solutions.
Job Requirements:
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a highly technical industry is required; communications, computer services or hardware industries preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree required; degree in electrical engineering or computer sciences highly desirable; MBA preferred (Marketing or Finance specialty highly desired).
• 2 years prior experience as a Director or Group Product Manager is required.
• Prior experience in developing and managing communications services is required.
• Prior experience in complex project management with an ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks is required.
• Ability to build cross-functional teams is required.
• Ability to develop strategy and implement actions required; must hold team accountable for performance without micromanaging is required.
• Ability to build relationships with Engineering and IS groups is required.
• Must be customer focused and be willing to meet with customers and the front line.
• Must have an ability to create and sell a vision to his/her people and the organization.
• Must understand and have a working knowledge of finance and economics as applied to developing business cases for new products and existing ones.
• Understanding of billing systems, switching systems, wide area networking, and back end office systems
• Proven track record in rolling out technical projects is preferred.
