The Senior Manager Media Systems Solutions will be responsible for the essential functions of designing, testing, implementing and maintaining system functionality in the areas of automated content preparation, production and delivery. In addition, the Digital Media Solutions Engineer will fulfill the key development support role for systems intended to improve and maintain Broadcast Operations and meta-data workflow efficiency.
The Senior Manager Media Systems Solutions will be required to take a lead role in developing and defining encoding specifications and delivery formats and will be a key contributor and leader in the continuous improvement of both the perceived and technical quality of digital assets created, managed and distributed by Starz Entertainment (STE); this includes all platforms, i.e. traditional broadcast files and files based for IP delivery, including streaming adaptive tier files and meta-data files.
The Senior Manager Media Systems Solutions will also have a technical and operational leadership role with regard to all systems that are supported by the Media Systems group. This includes coordinating and communicating changes with internal and external customers, making sure all are aware of any potential risks and changes to the various environments; taking full ownership and initiation of these projects and tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, integrate and/or evaluate existing Broadcast and Information Technology hardware/software solutions to meet Starz Entertainment (STE) rapidly expanding and diversifying distribution services.
• Test, evaluate, and provide deployment recommendations related to all automated media system.
• Identify, initiate and lead proactive initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability and quantity of content and content production.
• Design, implement and support media systems infrastructure for all STE distribution services.
• Develop function requirements and hardware/software-based solutions to support new and existing production workflows.
• Orchestrate the maintenance, system upgrades, and repair of all automated media systems with the assistance of Engineering, Information Technology Infrastructure Services and
• Development as needed.
• Provide Operational and Engineering staff with diagnostic support related to media and data systems.
• Ensure the integrity of all distribution services through the availability of all supporting media systems.
• Provide system integration and proof of concept testing to the MediaForge development team.
• Provide system integration and project implementation support to the Post Production and
• Encoding departments.
• Ensure systems are maintained at peak operating levels within FCC standards and regulations, with minimal program outages.
• Assist Engineering in the support of system software maintenance in Post-Production, On- Air, Servers, and Archive systems hardware to achieve minimal production down time or “on-air” programming loss due to system software failure.
• Assist Information Technology in the support of the online content repository and content creation technologies.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, with advanced degree work, preferred; Or Program certificate; Five to eight years’ related experience and/or training; Experience in, computer networking, Storage Area Networks, and client/server computing environments; And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated hardware and software troubleshooting skills in both Information
• Technology and Broadcast environments.
• Understanding of the Windows Media Format SDK for digital rights management software required.
• General knowledge of industry leading DRM technologies preferred (WMDRM, Widevine, Marlin, Fairplay, PlayReady, etc).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience with the following multiplexers:
◦ MP2 o MP4 o ASF
• Be self-motivated and exercise good judgment.
• Experience with various meta-data formats including all versions of CableLabs xml formats, MEC, avail notices and various GraceNote data sets.
