The successful candidate for this position will be an employee of Macmillan Publishing Group, LLC.
Requirements
At Macmillan, we strongly believe that finding a sustainable future is necessary not only in our business, but also for our world. Sustainability is an increasingly important part of publishing due to the significant use of natural resources as well as an area of growing interest among authors, readers, and publishing employees. Because of this, we have committed to addressing sustainability in the most serious way. In 2010, corporate sustainability became part of the very mission of Macmillan. As part of this effort, we decided to focus on CO2 emissions as our most pressing issue, with a goal of a 65 percent reduction in our carbon footprint (over our 2010 baseline) by the end of the current decade in 2020. We’ve made great strides since 2010 and continue to do so as we approach the end of the decade. The ideal candidate will have an interest in books and sustainability and be able to combine the two in a working environment. Some of the Intern’s responsibilities will be assisting in analyzing GHG data, updating website content, researching areas and opportunities for improvement and writing sustainability newsletter tips.
