Job Description
CenturyLink’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study. Interns in our Field Operations department will be challenged to apply their knowledge gained in the classroom to real world problems.
This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in the field of telecommunications to learn the basics of Outside Plant Engineering as it relates to project flows from inception to completion to gain hands on experience working on real world Innovation initiatives for a Fortune 200 company.
This opportunity will allow students to utilize their knowledge and abilities in the areas of project financial management such as budgeting, reporting, accruals, etc., managing project milestones and overall completion dates, learning and updating records systems and the importance of quality in records, learning and executing on network design and maintenance from both a short and long term perspective, learning to use logistics/purchasing systems for acquiring and tracking materials as well as gaining an greater understanding of telecommunications operations as a whole.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Candidate should have an interest in the field of telecommunications and is looking for a career in the field.
• A background or course study in construction, construction management, information technology, telecommunications, engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical), project/program management or other associated fields
• Ability to follow complex directions and work effectively with minimal direct supervision efficiently
• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented
• Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology
• Professional attitude
Minimum Requirements:
• Classification: Junior, Senior or Graduate status by start of internship
• Pursing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related area of focus
• Currently enrolled at a 4-year accredited College or University
• 3.0 or above cumulative GPA
• Reliable transportation and the ability to follow directions is a must.
