The Role: Insights Research Analyst
The Penguin Random House Consumer Insights team is looking for a highly motivated Insights Research Analyst to work on consumer-focused projects that synthesize quantitative and qualitative data from a variety of sources.
The Opportunity:
• Support our team’s goal to deeply understand our readers, ensuring they are at the center of the decision-making process.
• Use your research talents to help us develop a deep and comprehensive view of the book consumer.
The Responsibilities:
• Mining syndicated and primary data to monitor and deliver insights on key business issues.
• Collecting and analyzing data, writing SQL, extracting structured data sets.
• Contributing to efforts to improve data consistency, cleanliness, and ease of use.
• Developing new analytic and reporting ideas.
• Analyzing emerging trends as they relate to book consumers.
• Predicting future trends and opportunities using diverse data sources.
The Requirements:
• 1+ year of experience in a research role.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand statistical methods.
• BA in a related field (i.e., marketing analytics, social sciences) a plus.
• Proficiency in SQL, MS Excel, and Word.
• Knowledge of R a plus.
• Experience with unstructured data, presenting data visually, and using primary and secondary research.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A curious, agile, rigorous, and collaborative disposition.
