Leads multiple medium to small projects or a single very large project. Delivers the projects within requirements, budgetary, and scheduling guidelines. Plans the project, obtains resources, monitors and reports on status, manages risks, and controls project changes
• Serves as single-point of contact for the project.
• Performs project planning activities, including the creation of a project definition and project plan to clearly identify the project's scope, approach, participants, tasks, and responsibilities.
• Performs timely and accurate status reporting to all project stakeholders, including regular schedule and cost tracking.
• Execute project change control to keep the project within the approved scope, cost, and timeline.
• Mitigates project risks and resolves issues on a timely basis or escalates when needed.
• Maintains a repository of all project-related documents for use throughout the project, for historical reference, and for audits.
• Formally closes the project and hands-off to the Implementation Team.
• Serves as an advocate and mentor to others on project management practices and deliverables.
• Approves project definition, project plan, and project change orders
• Approves resolution of project issues and risks
• Monitors project schedule and costs
• Manages level of participation and commitment by project owner and stakeholder
• Monitors resource availability
• Provides project status and issues
• Defines hand-off criteria between the project management team and the implementation team
• Established key relationships with other project management teams within U.S. Cellular
• Applies the U.S. Cellular's eight project management deliverables to managing the project
• Maintains a repository of all project-related documents for use throughout the project, for historical reference, and for audits
• Bachelor degree in related discipline or equivalent experience required
• 4 years of project management experience is required
• Knowledge of project management methods and tools required
• Prior experience in project management with an ability to break down complex problems into manageable goals is required
• Prior experience managing large projects, vendors and technologies
• Working knowledge of PMI project management principles and/or PMP certification a plus
• Ability to build cross-functional teams is required
• Ability to be a leader who can implement strategy and course of action, and hold associates accountable for performance, is required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
• Proven track record in rolling out technology projects is preferred
• Business knowledge of the wireless industry is a plus
