As Airbnb Experiences continue to grow, we are seeking a researcher to help shape these unique transformational experiences. Through. In 2019, Airbnb Experiences is going deep into special communities with dedicated teams to build out “categories” of experiences, like concerts, surfing, social impact, adventures—even animals. The Experience Researcher will lead the charge, building out our practice in LA and defining the long-term vision for categories with other leadership.
The Experience Researcher will report to the Experiences Research Manager and be based in Los Angeles. S/he will be responsible for proactive collaboration, fast-paced concept testing, and leveraging research strategies for global research representation in order to build out the future of Airbnb Experiences.
Responsibilities:
• Identify new category opportunities through close collaboration with the categories leadership, core Experiences team, and other Airbnb researchers.
• Lead research to quickly iterate on category concepts
◦ Own the end-to-end testing of new categories of experiences through leveraging a mixed method approach to research.
◦ Research both the online offering as well as the offline experience of new types of Experiences, partnering closely with the operations team.
◦ Build strategies for host acquisition and onboarding for new categories in collaboration with head of categories and operations team.
◦ Help identify product/market fit for new categories across multiple audiences and segments of the Airbnb guest and host community.
◦ Collaborate closely with other researchers on Experiences for connecting insights across the platform.
◦ Maintain multiple research work streams across several new categories.
• Help launch new categories for Experiences — around the world!
Qualifications:
• BS. or Masters in Human-Computer Interaction, Sociology, Psychology, Information Science, Computer Science (or similar), or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of industry experience
• Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and synthesis
• Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work in a high-paced environment and create results quickly and with little guidance
• Passion for Airbnb’s mission and deep empathy for our diverse community
Bonus Skills
• Willingness for occasional travel to San Francisco, and global travel as needed for conducting research
• Market research experience
• SQL skills
