Executive Director, K-8 ELA

The Executive Director will manage day-to-day operations and ensure execution on the strategic vision of K-8 ELA. ELA faces many exciting challenges this year as we 1) learn to win with Amplify ELA in open territory in 2) gear up for the Florida adoption and 3) think about how we integrate K-5 and 6-8. The Executive Director will work extremely closely with the GM to help set priorities for the products and lead the team to execute on those priorities. This role will continue to take shape as we solidify those priorities, but, at its core, it is a thought partner for the GM and an operational leader on the team.
Responsibilities of the Executive Director, K-8 ELA:
• Strategic financial management: manage analysis and work with other departments to track monthly P&L against budget. Develop recommendations on major strategic decisions (e.g., product roadmap, choosing new texts, print editioning) based on financial analysis, customer needs, market landscape, and alignment with strategic priorities of the business.
• Research based product design: consult on strategic product direction to ensure market compatibility, competitive feature sets, and pricing structures. Work with sales and account management to understand our customers and competitors. Couple internal data with quantitative and qualitative market research to help product and content teams better understand will distinguish Amplify in the ELA market
• Inter-departmental coordination: given the matrixed structure of the company, it is important to ensure ELA priorities are elevated in product development, services, sales, and finance. The Executive Director will work with the GM to coordinate with leaders across these fields and will represent product in sales and marketing settings to drive new business and collect market intel. The Executive director will also understand how the ELA products fits within the broader Amplify ecosystem and work with the GM to ensure CKLA and Amplify ELA are driving toward company-wide goals as we accomplish our individual product goals.
• Account Growth and Retention: For large and/or strategic revenue opportunities the Executive Director will partner with Sales and Marketing to help win the business, which may involve delivering the sales presentation in whole, or sections of the presentation. In addition, for large and/or strategic accounts, the Executive Director will partner with Services to assist in resolving major issues in order to turn these accounts into happy ones.
Basic Qualifications of the Executive Director:
• 7+ years of product experience
• Experience building a data-driven, impact-focused product organization, with a culture of experimentation and building toward outcomes
• Experience building a team that deeply values product quality and product design
• Demonstrated history of delivering innovative products that delight consumers and drive business results
• Proven record of managing direct reports
