This position will be responsible for driving revenue growth and increasing advertising market share through management of a local sales team. They will be expected to ensure client satisfaction and sales responsiveness on all accounts, with a focus on leveraging total audience data to drive business results. The Sales Manager will also be responsible for generating new business opportunities/leads and ensuring profitability as industry focus evolves in a competitive landscape, adapting as product/services evolve.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for attaining/exceeding budget
• Responsible for managing the local advertising revenue generated by the Local team. This includes all revenue streams Linear, Digital, all future products and services, etc.
• Responsible for embracing, communicating and executing the mission of A4
• Responsible for the development, communication, and follow through on local tactics required to achieve and drive budget
• Spends a majority of time actively involved in the day to day of performance managing, coaching, developing, motivating and training the AE staff
◦ This includes attending sales calls with AE’s to help close business and provide feedback to AE
• Holds weekly one on one meetings with each AE to review status against all accounts, understand key activity, and opportunities in the pipeline or pending
• Ensures quality and consistent Salesforce, DOMO, utilization as the core database and management tool for the Team
• Enforces Account Receivable policies
• Partners with Pricing and Planning Teams, Marketing Team, Local Sales and Traffic teams to create special packaging of media to achieve and exceed stated revenue budget goals
• Assess ongoing systems, operational and servicing needs of Local Ad Sales to maintain industry service standards.
• Conducts and prepares weekly sales meetings with the team
• Champion local performance based incentives/recognition and builds a culture of friendly competition
• Plan and implement strategies for the growth of advertising sales zones within respective area, include leveraging tools to optimize media planning and sell data differently
• Provide leadership, direction, and resources as needed for local sales staff to ensure performance and growth
• Be a strong motivator, hold team/individuals accountable, engage and develop the team
• Provide direction, training and coaching to the Account Executives
• Plan, forecast, analyze, and execute tactics to support sales objectives
• Utilize sales reporting and analytical data to inform decisions that increase profitability
• Manage and maximize inventory usage
This role is based in Midland, TX
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 5 years of successful media sales or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years prior sales management, preferably in media sales
• Internet Advertising Sales required
• Proficiency with internet terms and concepts, including social media
• Knowledge of the local media market and local contacts preferred
• Proven ability to motivate sales staff
• Financial/budgeting experience
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Demonstrated success managing team performance to meet and exceed sales targets
• Track record of championing change to move business forward
• Demonstrated use of sales reporting tools and analytics to inform business decisions
• Strong consultative sales skills (understanding needs, handling objections)
• Strong people/relationship management skills (with a focus of coaching and development)
• Demonstrated strong presentation and sales skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Can successfully interface with all levels of management
• Solid influencing and negotiation skills
• Can analyze problems and probe facts
• Knowledge of business planning in a sales environment, related reporting/analytics and forecasting skills (knows what levers to push)
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize effectively
