Taylor Corporation is looking for a Director of Data Security to lead our expanding privacy practices and compliance activities. You will work closely with the Taylor Technology Services, Inc. Legal, Security, and Product teams to ensure that privacy best practices are incorporated into our products and process and to ensure that the company is meeting our global privacy compliance obligations. More importantly, you will be helping to provide our customers with the assurances they need to know that Taylor Technology Services, Inc. takes the privacy and security of their data seriously. This is a Senior Director-level role and it will report directly to the Chief Security Officer.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in managing and leading privacy and compliance initiatives and working collaboratively with product teams and developers. The leader in this role will have demonstrable experience using risk-based methodologies and decision-making to arrive at creative and pragmatic solutions while placing less emphasis on following checklists.
Responsibilities Include:
• Establish and maintain a culture that integrates standard, privacy practices into all phases of software engineering and operational life cycles, which includes the best-known Privacy by Design practices and methods
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable global and local privacy laws and accreditation standards, and monitor advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance
• Work with the general counsel and product organization to ensure both existing and new services comply with privacy and data security obligations
• Work with product teams to ensure awareness of privacy best practices
• Work with Security Compliance to implement new and adjust existing security review processes to meet regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR and others as applicable) in a scalable fashion
• Partner closely with Security Compliance to establish, maintain and ratify privacy policies
• Assist business units with the development of tools and methodologies to ensure ongoing compliance
• Establish an enterprise privacy training and awareness vision, and develop supporting materials and other communications to increase employee understanding of company privacy policies, data handling practices, procedures, and legal obligations
• Develop and implement scalable methods that support the creation and maintenance of company data inventory
• Ensure privacy incident response procedures are integrated into existing processes and included in regular testing standards
• Develop and maintain processes for responding to customer data deletion requests
• Respond to customer and prospect inquiries regarding Taylor Technology Services, Inc. privacy practices, and lead the creation of materials that support the sales and customer support teams in their interactions with those parties
• Lead cross-department privacy compliance efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 8+ years of privacy and compliance experience
• Strong knowledge of global privacy regulations, particularly GDPR
• Familiarity with US privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA and PCI DSS
• Experience working directly with product and/or development organizations, including the ability to translate between privacy regulations and technical requirement
• Very strong written and oral communications skills
• Demonstrable, sound decision making judgment, especially in situations involving risk assessments and recommendations
• Demonstrable experience in establishing policies and controls
• 30% travel (local and out-of-area)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree
• People management experience
