External Job Title -Change Manager
The Change Manager reports directly to the Change Management Director. The primary responsibilities include supporting the implementation of the IT Organizational change management strategies as well as developing the plans that will maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance to change. Change management activities will span core organizational change, communications, engagement, training, readiness, and user adoption activities. This individual will focus on the people side of the change and identifying the behaviors necessary to adopt to program & project changes within the IT organization as well as the user experience for IT-driven changes impacting other HMH employees. This position is located in Boston, Massachusetts.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
Working with the Change Management team and other IT & HMH resources define, develop, and execute end-to-end change management detailed plans to drive employee adoption, deliver a positive change experience, and drive benefits realization of intended outcomes for the IT organization. Additional key responsibilities include:
Contribute to thought leadership in the areas of change management within leading digital IT organizations
Collaborate in the creation of strategies to address managing change within the organization, within programs and within projects in the IT organization.
Collaborate in the creation of methodologies and tools that will be adaptable to the portfolio of projects.
Apply change management expertise, process and tools to create an effective change plan
Influence and participate in the design, development, and management of change communications
Conduct change impact analyses and mitigation plans to facilitate the changes
Assess organizational change readiness and adoption abilities as it relates to the projects and other initiatives in the IT organization
Identify and manage stakeholders, conduct stakeholder analysis and create stakeholder management and engagement plans
Assist in the design, development and execution of end-to-end training strategy and plan including conducting training needs analysis, curriculum development, content development and training delivery
Support project teams in integrating change management activities into project plans
Coach various levels of the organization in helping them fulfill the role of change agent
Able to anticipate potential resistance and prepare risk mitigation tactics as necessary
Work collaboratively with various teams to achieve common goals
Desired Skills and Experience:
This person is a self-motivated individual who works collaboratively to deliver innovative yet practical solutions to complex IT-related changes by designing and executing tailored change management approach and detailed plans for delivery and adoption. This individual should possess:
Understanding of how people experience a change and how to guide employees through the change curve
Expertise in change management principles, methodologies, tools and execution
Ability to work in ambiguous situations while helping drive others to a common goals
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Training development experience including web-based learning systems (e.g., Captivate, Articulate)
Experience with adult learning principles and innovate learning strategies
Active listening skills and ability to relay messages back to the speaker to demonstrate understanding
Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise way to various levels in the organization as well as other stakeholders
Must be adaptable and flexible to quickly respond to changing needs and priorities
5+ years of experience in organizational change management, preferably in an IT environment
Large scale organizational change management experience, ideally with IT integration efforts
Related undergraduate degree or related experience
Physical Requirements:
Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
The person in this position needs to move about inside office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
