Plans, develops, writes, and edits multiple communication mediums, including product service manuals, online application help, bulletins, and any other type of required informational or procedural documents used by customers both internally and externally. Conducts interviews and demonstrations with various subject matter experts (SMEs) throughout the organization to gather required information or procedures. Utilizes a tiered review process (SME, Team, Peer, final copyedit) before disseminating communications to internal and external audiences. Produces documents that conform to the Technical Publications Style Guide. Performs some leadership and provides advice to peers. Creates, manages, and maintains Technical Publications internal procedures, templates, and style guides.

Essential Job Functions:
• Produces high-quality, on-time communications in support of new product submissions or existing products in the field or at regulatory agencies using information obtained from research and input from Subject Matter Expert’s and Project Management.
• Builds strong collaborative relationships with Product Development (hardware & software), Field Service, the Incident Response Team (IRT), Compliance, WMS U, and Legal in the collection and development of document content.
• Translates complex and technical information into an intuitive and clear format.
• Creates multimedia content for inclusion in communications. This content may include video footage, animations using the 3D Modeling software, Flash animations, etc. by researching engineering schematics, design diagrams, bills of material, and process maps.
• Understands the development cycle of the product.
• Able to lead on multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
• Verifies, validates, and edits documentation products; ensures that documentation accuracy reflects the functionality and meets defined quality parameters
• Completes editorial reviews of peers’ documents.
• Attends project meetings to keep abreast of the status of product development status and schedule.
• Assists development of layout and “look and feel” of communication vehicles.
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, looks for ways to improve and promote quality, and applies feedback to improve performance.
• Contribute to corporate style guidelines, templates, checklists, and processes or improvements.
• Ensures that documents are clean and contain no errors.
• Coordinates with printing and translation vendors to produce documentation.
• Creates graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in the documentation.
• Research, define, and create documentation requirements, plans, templates, and procedures.
• Research and define writing process, and research new writing tools.
• Actively involved in continuous improvement projects.
• Assist other writers with their projects or guiding lower-level writers through certain complex projects or programs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Updates the Technical Documentation intranet site.
• Maintains project status information.
• Fosters a supportive environment within the department and with internal and external customers. Assists with ongoing departmental and organizational initiatives.
• Assists in template editing and development.
• Ad hoc duties, as specified by the Technical Publications Manager.
Position Requirements
Qualifications
• 5-10 years of technical writing experience
• Experience writing technical documentation for technology products mandatory
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communications, English, Communications, and/or Journalism preferred, or equivalent (i.e., military training and schooling)
• Masters Degree in Technical Communications, English, Communications, and/or Journalism preferred, or equivalent a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required, including the ability to digest and explicate highly technical content.
• Very organized, detail-oriented, timely, and a self-starter.
• Possess effective people skills and creative problem solving skills.
• Effective organizational skills in order to complete multiple tasks under the pressure of deadlines.
• Willingness and the ability to quickly learn new concepts, information, new software applications, writing tools, and skills.
• Ability to quickly understand all writing, publishing, and image tools.
• Ability to initiate project work with defined goals and clear instruction on assignments.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with people from multiple disciplines.
• Working knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker and Photoshop software is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel, are required.
• Working knowledge of Adobe RoboHelp is preferred.
• Good working knowledge and understanding of in-house applications and related products.
• Knowledge of industry standards.
• HTML development and Dreamweaver proficiency required. Flash development skills preferred.
• Some knowledge and experience using 3D Modeling software is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Vision: Close vision, Ability to adjust focus
• Needs to use hand tools and maneuver around slot machine components.
Work Conditions:
• Basic office environment, lab environment, casino environment, and as-needed work assignments.
