I. Job Summary
| Major goals and objectives.
Lead team of Digital Asset Management (DAM) employees, who perform a variety of customer-support and asset-related tasks for the company’s creative content, including images, illustrations, published pages, videos, XML, and recipes. On daily basis, direct workloads; monitor employee progress on assigned work, ranging from archiving and documenting asset usage to contracts/rights management and delivery of assets to domestic and foreign licensing and syndication partners; and serve as liaison between DAM department, internal groups, and third-party service providers. Manage various aspects of the Digital Asset Management operation (including, but not limited to, budget and metrics/reporting) and oversee process improvement initiatives to ensure specified industry standards are met.

Provide strategic direction to Digital Asset Management staff, including participation in departmental Strategic Initiatives that will increase group effectiveness and scalability. Take lead role in developing, documenting, and identifying process improvement opportunities internal to department and in collaboration with colleagues throughout the Premedia operation, Editorial, IT, and others—from individual users to department leadership— as needed.

Collaborate with direct reports to prioritize workloads, ensuring employees meet performance standards, follow best practices to complete work to predetermined quality levels, and meet all deadlines. Actively identify opportunities to level workload, using existing staff or external entities, while monitoring labor costs.

Manage department operating budget and work with Executive Director, Premedia and Digital Asset Management Services and peers to track and report on various aspects of Premedia operation. Includes employee productivity (cost/unit and time spent/unit), schedule adherence, workload forecasting and month-end volume reporting, and department finances (such as employee overtime).

Collaborate with employees to develop individual professional development programs. Monitor employees’ progress and provide feedback and recommendations for additional job-related training opportunities.

Participate in training or use other methods to stay up-to-date on DAM developments, such as industry trends and software and technology advancements.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Master’s degree in Library Science, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent training or experience will be considered.
Experience:
At least 7 years of proven management experience, preferably with a major media company or large corporation or institution.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires knowledge of DAM workflows and industry standards, including software, file formats, and metadata. Must be proficient in Excel; knowledge of database solutions (FileMaker Pro) beneficial. Exposure to DAM and workflow management systems, such as WoodWing, a plus. Working knowledge of contracts/rights-management terminology and practices helpful.
Strong leadership, project management, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to develop and implement solutions in a team environment for scheduling, tracking, and reporting. Critical thinking, excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must work well with people at all levels and provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Must be highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while working under time constraints and pressure to meet changing deadlines.
