Job Description
NEWS CENTER Maine, TEGNA’s NBC stations in Bangor and Portland, Maine, is looking for a motivated, innovative leader to drive the gathering, creation, and distribution of engaging, compelling content. The Manager of Content will work collaboratively as part of the news management team and play a key role in continuing to grow the station’s content and audience-focused strategy. Our ideal candidate can identify relevant stories, teach others how to do so, and contribute to the roadmap of creating digital-interactive content for today’s news consumer.
In this role, you will:
• Create unique, authentic, engaging content
• Be a bold voice at the editorial meetings for News Center Maine’s audience based on social listening and metrics ensuring they are heard on digital and on air
• Inspire the news team to produce enterprise content in all day parts tailoring to each digital and social platform across current and future platforms with storytelling that is optimized for each screen
• Actively partner with the director of content, EP, news operations manager, digital director and marketing director to create three-screen synergy (TV, digital, mobile) around station content, innovation, and campaigns
• Utilize the TEGNA digital leaders to learn new content opportunities that help News Center Maine reach and serve new audiences maximizing the sharing of our stories and leverage innovation and best practices among stations
• Embrace News Center Maine’s vision of excellence in journalism and innovation to uplift local news to empower a stronger community
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance stories
• Engage in community and make occasional public appearances
• Perform other tasks as required by the Director of Content

Job Requirements
Here’s what you need:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience in the field
• Digital content experience, including a demonstrated ability to lead other journalists
• Experience in all forms of digital content development and execution, photojournalism, video editing, and content management systems
• Experience with audience feedback tools like CrowdTangle, Chartbeat, Omniture, etc. analyzing market-specific data and identifying behavioral trends
• Passion and vision for emerging media
• Strong organizational, motivational, and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and lead change
