Description
Stitcher is searching for a Producer to join Freakonomics Radio in NYC. In this role, you'll support the Freakonomics Radio team. You'll produce content for the podcast, live events, and the website. Started in 2010 by host Stephen J. Dubner, Freakonomics Radio is one of the most successful podcasts in the world with 10 million listeners each month. Freakonomics Radio features surprising conversations with Nobel Laureates, provocateurs, social scientists and entrepreneurs, to explore the hidden side of everything.
What you'll do
• Supervise all aspects of production of 10-12 episodes per year -- from idea phase through publication
• Pitch ideas and research show topics
• Identify and pre-interview potential guests
• Prep host for interviews
• Conduct interviews and field reporting
• Log tape, cut host tracks, cut interviews
• Write scripts
• Offer editorial feedback to host
• Contribute to social media accounts and listener engagement
• Participate in weekly editorial meetings
• Possibly appear on-air with host for segments
• Some administrative tasks as needed
What you bring
• Experience in journalism and/or economics or other social science (preferably at a master's degree level or above)
• At least four years' experience in a deadline-driven media environment
• Proficiency with audio editing (Pro Tools)
• Superb writing skills showing originality and humor
• An interest in and knack for understanding research papers, data and evidence-based social science
• Creative problem-solving in editing stories and interviews
• Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
• Scrupulous attention to detail
• Proficiency with a range of social media
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred
• Live-event production experience a plus
