Reporting to the National Manager of Special Projects. The Senior Project Manager will oversee the relocation of a major museum collection over a multi-year period. The job will involve planning and coordinating activities between the client, subcontractors and Artex staff in a manner that is safe, efficient, and meets project deadlines. The position will involve managing and supervising a staff of over seventy employees and subcontactors.
Duties and responsibilities for the position include:
• Attending meetings with client to coordinate activities and clarify expectations and responsibilities between project stakeholders.
• Tracking project performance to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term project goals.
• Developing schedules and plans of interlocking tasks and activities that meet or exceed deadlines within the overall project timeline.
• Meeting budgetary objectives and adjusting project constraints based on financial analysis.
• Preparing summary reports to track progress of project tasks relative to schedule and Artex financial goals.
• Briefing the National Manager of Special Projects and Artex upper management on relocation progress and upcoming activities.
• Accurately tracking hours, material and level of effort expended on project tasks for prompt monthly invoicing.
• Managing the project with an intimate understanding of contract terms and scope.
• Proactively flag and maintain record of change orders /project scope changes, trends and variances that potentially affect project schedule performance and budgetary commitments.
• Performing risk management to minimize project risks.
• Document for future reference lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvements in future project designs, plans, process and project deployment.
Requirements
Minimum five (5) years of experience in project management for protection and relocation of artifacts and objects which are part of an AAM accredited museum’s collection. Demonstrated experience in working in a recognized museum required.
• BS/BA/BBA Degree required.
• Must have significant knowledge of processes-driven methodologies with a strong focus on continuous process improvement;
• Superior interpersonal and demonstrated facilitation skills, including the ability to motivate and influence others, build effective interpersonal relationships, and foster and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
• Strong organizational, analytical, verbal & writing skills, to include solid experience in writing functional and technical specifications.
• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise using Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
• Qualification or progress toward Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Ability to make formal presentations to audiences at various levels.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experience with Federal Government contracts and projects
• Experience with project management software (Primavera, Smartsheets)
• OSHA 30 Hour Training
