Description
The Editor integrates visual content and audio material to create compelling stories for Scripps News Magazine show as well as completing daily editing projects for multiple platforms. The Editor must have a passion for news, pop culture and entertainment.
Key Activities
• Capture visual content and edit long-form stories and content for daily news magazine as needed
• Work with producers, multi-media journalists and photojournalists to ensure a high quality product consistent with the shows brand
• Responsible for operating various news gathering equipment, including but not limited to video camera and video editing equipment
• Maintain video archive filing system
• Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the Web site
• Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Reacts to breaking stories and news on an immediate basis.
• Gathers story related materials (sound and video) on a timely basis.
• Coordinates remote and studio events, creating synergy between remote and studio productions
• Collaborates with field teams and affiliates on breaking stories, sharing of information
• Perform other duties as assigned by news magazine leadership
Education & Experience
• Associate's degree in journalism or related field preferred or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in related field preferred
Skills & Abilities
• Proficiency in non-linear, editing, including Final Cut Pro
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Self-starter, ability to work in a team environment, performing wide range of functions in a boundary-less way
• Able to work under pressure and meet multiple daily deadlines
