Job Description
TEGNA is seeking a technology and process leader to help build and streamline the people, process and technology systems that enable TEGNA’s current and future revenue streams, including advertising, subscriptions and e-commerce.
As the Vice President of Technology – Revenue and Automation, you will be a member of the senior leadership team within the CTO organization and will lead the technology team and resources to support TEGNA’s corporate and field Revenue team. This key leader will be responsible for a team of technology professionals with the purpose of fostering technical collaboration, alignment, and adoption between the business stakeholders across the company.
The VP of Technology – Revenue and Automation will partner with the business stakeholders to define and deliver on a technology strategy and roadmap that enables TEGNA’s business units for its growth and scale in the following key areas:
• Sales Enablement – Define the people, process and technology to support our frontline sales teams to be efficient and effective in the customer relationship journey
• Sales and Traffic – Define and manage the systems that support our order management, traffic and billing process across television, digital and OTT platforms
• Industry Automation – Partner and provide thought leadership to develop and implement process and technology to streamline the buying and selling of advertising
• Attribution – Partner and provide thought leadership to implement technology to prove the effectiveness of the advertising campaigns
Responsibilities:
• Build a scalable framework and architecture of the revenue systems platform and deliver on high-impact projects (One Screen, Salesforce.com, Industry Automation, Attribution) focused on key strategic initiatives for TEGNA. Lead teams in an exciting and engaging environment, where you will be encouraged to expand your skills, test your creative boundaries, share new ideas, and most importantly – have fun.
• Lead teams from project scoping to final solution in a cross-business capability to solve complex business problems.
• Develop and maintain relationships with senior executives in the business lines. Build in-depth knowledge of the business success drivers, industry trends, regulatory issues and competitive marketplace to develop value added business solutions.
• Drive pragmatic approaches to solving key complex business problems.
• Work with business stakeholders to define short and long-term roadmap, prioritize features and deliverables, and define release dates.
• Define, develop, and deliver special software application projects that supports business team’s initiatives and vision.
• Develop technology solutions by assembling staff, vendor, and service resources to evaluate, design, test, install, and maintain hardware, applications and systems software.
• Develop, hire, and manage a high performing team of Analysts, Engineers, and QA staff.
• Manage the software development lifecycle, including the release planning, implementation, testing, quality assurance and application delivery.
• Develop, negotiate contracts and monitor external technical personnel and vendors to accomplish projects, provide services and/or resolve issues.
• Establish, measure, and maintain key partner, vendor and external developer relationships.
• Consult with internal business leaders and outside sources to determine information needs and system capabilities; plan enhancements for current and future organization needs.
• Lead verbal and written communications with colleagues and business partners at all levels to clearly articulate the findings of analytical models and assist in driving solutions.
Job Requirements
Experience / Skills:
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, plus a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience creating sales technology solutions
• Superior communication and persuasion skills; talent for storytelling, visualization and creating insights from data to deliver practical recommendations for business action
• Consultative nature, with a proven track record of using data to provide actionable business results
• Proven relationship building and collaboration skills; ability to influence and drive outcomes in matrixed and complex organizations
• Experience managing teams of engineers and business analysts with focus on sales technologies like Salesforce.com and Wide Orbit
• Accustomed to managing multiple teams on different projects. Experience managing projects, budgets and schedules to successful completion
• Prior experience with Cloud-based technologies, analytical and visualization tools
• Entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, and resilience; comfort with and ability to thrive on and drive change while navigating ambiguity
• Media and Entertainment industry experience a plus
