Learning Architect-ELL Editor
HMH’s Supplemental Intervention Solutions Group is seeking to hire a Learning Architect (Editor) to contribute to the development of innovative digital and print programs that will propel secondary English learners to academic achievement.
The Learning Architect, EL is an experienced editor of instructional content who is well versed in EL curriculum and pedagogy, and is dedicated to the creation of high-quality and engaging products that will accelerate language development for EL students. The Learning Architect, EL Instruction, supports all content development efforts, works collaboratively within and across teams and calmly and diligently juggles multiple results-oriented initiatives under tight turnarounds.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the instructional design, product development (prototype design), and production of ELL (English Language Learning) technology and print program components from concept to fulfillment.
• Use expertise in K-12 EL instruction, Universal Design for Learning Principles, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to help develop program prototypes, manuscript, and technology content that adhere to research, best practices and all program pedagogy.
• Support and contribute to content creation efforts for SIS EL programs
such as student and teacher content and assessments with in-house and out-of-house writers, designers, advisors and developers, ensuring that content aligns with program mission. Review work with Senior Learning Architects, program authors and advisors on an as needed basis and incorporate feedback.
• Collaborates across teams, working with Product Management, Production and Design to ensure that work aligns with product development plans, goals, and strategies.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or relevant discipline
3+ years of educational publishing experience; experience developing EL learning solutions for the K-12 market
3+ years experience developing interactive instructional and/or assessment materials for elementary and/or secondary students, or comparable teaching experience
Knowledge of EL curriculum, pedagogy and best practices
Editing and writing ability; grammar and composition skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be a strong collaborator across diverse groups
Preferred:
Master's degree
Teaching experience
Experience working in a K–12 (primary or secondary) education setting
Physical Requirements
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
