Description
Must have full availability Monday-Friday at minimum. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays to support park operation.
Position Summary:
As an Operations Ride Operator & Lifeguard, your role is to ensure our guests safely enjoy our Park rides and Water Park attractions through operating and managing the attractions. The job duties and abilities are listed below:
Ride Operator:
• Learn and follow detailed ride operating procedures listed in Standard Operating Procedures manuals
• Strong verbal communication skills to instruct guests and maintain effective communication with other ride operators/ride hosts
• Work effectively in busy environments with high noise levels
• Work effectively under pressure in situations such as ride breakdowns or upset guests
• Maintain a high level of focus to ensure safe operation
• Comfortable speaking to guests both one-on-one and in groups using a public address system
• Complete daily ride opening safety checklists to ensure ride safety and readiness for guests
• Check rider height and screen for other riding restrictions
• Ensure all safety policies, rules and procedures are followed at all times
• Identify/eliminate safety risks
• Physically check ride restraints (seat belts, lap bars, doors, etc.)
• Utilize ride controls to operate ride (send vehicles in motion, start ride cycle, stop ride cycle, lock lap bars, etc.)
• Assist guests utilizing passes, such as disability access passes
• Follow set procedures during ride break downs, including proper guest communication and carrying out ride evacuation
• Maintain basic cleanliness and order of ride queues, storage areas, and play areas
Lifeguard:
• Explain and enforce LEGOLAND Water Park policies and procedures
• Assist Water Park guests in distress or in danger of drowning
• Responsible for responding to emergencies and must show a high sense of urgency while working
• Administer first aid and CPR as needed. Must bring a respiration mask to work daily
• Maintain records as needed
• Use and maintain Water Park facilities and equipment properly and safely
• Perform all lifeguarding skills based on IAM StarGuard criteria
• Acquire product knowledge and stay up to date on changes within the Park and Water Park
• Follow all DOSH regulations for the Water Park, including ensuring Water Park area and capacity is managed per DOSH regulations
• Aware of the IIPP (Injury and Illness Prevention Plan) and obligation under it
Other Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old in order to comply with the Merlin Ride Safety Competency Policy requirement to operate a Type 1 or 2 ride
• Ability to speak English to a level of fluency that allows ability to communicate with guests effectively to support their enjoyment and safety
• Literacy in English to allow the ability to properly read and understand safety and operational documentation
• Must be risk aware and able to pass a basic risk awareness screening at time of interview
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support park operation.
• Have a current IAM StarGuard Lifeguard Certification or have the ability to obtain an IAM Starfish certification through LEGOLAND® facilitated training
• Must be able to pass written and practical skills exam prior to duty
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to read (with glasses or contact lenses if necessary) a vehicle registration/license plate from 20 meters (standard letter size of 79mm high) as a minimum
• Ability to hear (with hearing aids if necessary) instructions and confirmation from Ride Operators and Ride Hosts with or without the ability to see them speaking.
• Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations
