Job Description
Costume Shop Production Supervisor
Position Purpose:
To manage the daily operations of the costume shop; including maintaining shop equipment, ordering supplies, budgeting, scheduling, supervising & providing leadership to costume shop staff, & playing an active role in the execution of department productions and related activities.
To collaborate in the creation & maintenance of all costumes, accessories, and make-up elements in regards to shows, parades, special events, meet & greets, Fright Fest, Holiday in the Park, etc.
Primary Functions:
Project Coordinator:
Coordinates and serves as primary liaison for the following projects and processes: Supervision of the Entertainment Costume Shop, installation and operation of costumes, make-up, wigs, and millinery.
Proactively follows through on all aspects of projects.
Tracks project status and proactively communicate updates and/or reminders.
Maintain show quality in regards to costumes, make-up, millinery, and wigs.
Oversees and/or participates in the construction and fabrication of costumes.
Plans, schedules, and ensures timely provision of costumes to established show standards. Communicating needs and deadlines to all production staff.
Inputs and maintains Costume Shop Staff schedules.
Supervises the construction, purchasing, alteration, repair, cleaning/maintenance and storage of theatrical costumes/ wigs/ makeup.
Processes and Procedures Documentation:
Develops and documents key processes and procedures related to positions responsibilities.
Collaborates in the development of production budget and solutions to design needs.
Maintains a cleaning and organization schedule for costume shop staff.
Costume Shop Management:
Ensures the timely transfer and storage of finished costumes, costume accessories, and wigs to designate performance space. Fits/adjusts costumes to actors.
Clean and maintain all shop equipment; enforce safely regulations relating to the operation of power sewing equipment, hazardous/non hazardous chemicals, and first aid.
Completing & maintaining schedules for all costume personnel, and ensuring that time & attendance is accurate through use of our online timesheets (Optim8).
Purchasing and ordering of supplies for costume production.
Manages Costume Shop budget.
Tracks Costume Shop expenses and follows up with orders placed.
Be willing to assist where/ when needed (i.e., special events, laundry, dressing shows, crowd control, tech week...etc.).
Other Functions:
Assist in show product quality in regards to scenic, audio, lighting, costume, script, and show personnel -- show audits.
Able and willing to obtain a park driver's license in order to operate Costume Shop vehicles.
Cross utilization within theatrical field and house management, regarding world class service to our guests.
Should possess strong organizational and budget management skills.
Serves as an information resource within and outside of department.
Supports department operations.
Works on special projects and other ad-hoc requests as assigned.
