The Brand Strategy team’s mission is to create human-centric ideas worth talking about. Partnering with the top brands in the world, we build ideas that are audience-led, insights-driven, simple in nature, measurable, align with their brand, and ultimately lead to a memorable experience for the end user. The team is tasked both “thinking big” and “thinking pragmatically” on behalf of advertisers.
The Director of the West Region will coach and lead an established and distributed team of strategists and planners for the entire region, with team members located in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Portland.
Success in this role means:
• Setting a vision for the team by staying ahead of marketing trends, and managing a diverse, growing, and distributed team
• Ensuring adequate resources and strategies for success are in place
• Leveraging experience as a senior-level marketer, thinking strategically, and communicating well both within the team and throughout the organization
• Surface and coach the team to produce solutions for advertisers, both those that are well established and those that are growing in their relationship with Twitter
• Utilizing a unique hybrid of marketing and business acumen, raw creative ability, and operational excellence
• Engaging and influencing C-Suite clients on the brand and agency side, equally comfortable speaking the languages of both CMOs and Creative Directors
• Understanding and possessing unparalleled competitive knowledge of the brand, media, creative and social landscape
• Embracing the creative process while also building workflows that encourage information sharing that benefits everyone
• Partnering and operating cross-functionally with disparate Twitter teams and groups ranging from sales, product, marketing, PR, business development, legal, finance, HR, and more
• Remove barriers and bottlenecks for your team, while also giving sound advice on any adversity that may surface for individuals such as creative block, ambiguity, work-load balancing, etc.
• Success metrics will be the level of innovation and/or advertiser success driven for Twitter’s advertisers, along with the marketplace recognition and revenue impact attributed to the programs produced by the team
Responsibilities
• Build, coach and manage a distributed team of creative marketers that delivers human-centric marketing solutions
• Work with US sales leadership to maintain adequate support for all sectors in the TCS organization
• Collaborate with the East Region Director and the Innovation Director to optimize operation across the entire team
• Problem solve for the team and create internal efficiencies that scale
• Listen, decide, communicate: gather feedback and set a vision for the team that fits with that of the Twitter revenue org
Qualifications and Requirements
• BA/BS degree, MBA or related Master’s a plus
• 12 - 15 years marketing experience in a brand/agency (media or creative), media sales support, integrated marketing, consulting or publisher function
• Deep expertise in social media platforms, and demonstrated experience in Twitter as a user and as a marketer
• Fluency in marketing and deep understanding of vertical specific brand KPIs
• Deep, long-standing track record of managing large, distributed teams of people as well as leading operational responsibilities across large organizations
• Ability to coach, build and empower a distributed team without getting in their way
• Consult and inspire, knowing how to bring ideas to the table
• Knowledge of and empathy for the sales process
• Demonstrated ability to balance the need for quick turnaround with longer-term strategic efforts
• Driven and solution-oriented and can overcome obstacles to drive projects through to completion
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
• Travel to distributed offices, ensuring all team members are supported (by you, their manager, and all supporting functions)
• Comfortable presenting to large groups
