JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible to direct all advertising sales activities and support within the Division by leading the sales management team with clear goals, objectives, skill building and performance monitoring and feedback. Create and implement strategic sales initiatives and action plans for approval and, at the directions of Group VP for core, digital and ADS advertising products.
Specific responsibilities assigned to this position include, but are not limited to:
• Recruit, train, motivate and develop sales managers to increase productivity, exceed minimum sales requirements and satisfy customer needs.
• Develop, communicate, direct and schedule the sales training function, including seminar composition, material creation and implementation.
• Execute the strategic game plan and delivery of initiatives and sales goals for each product category under the multimedia umbrella. Review quarterly and annual sales goals for each market’s sales teams.
• Audit sales process in each market to identify opportunities for improvement and showcase success. Assist in the restructuring of sales processes as needed and solve issues that arise in coordination with supervisor, operations and market level personnel.
• Plan, direct and control sales processes ensuring strategies and tactics are properly communicated and carried forward in coordination with supervisor.
• Hold sales management accountable to performance by reviewing metrics, including forecasting to maximize opportunities and determine areas for improvement.
• Network nationally, regionally, and locally to stay abreast of emerging media trends, rates and product solutions keeping supervisor involved in all aspects.
• Identify educational/seminar opportunities for senior managers and bring into the budget process.
• Travel as necessary to assist in covering vacancies and for training, to conduct bi-monthly division level sales meetings, rollout of sales initiatives etc with the goal of being in every market at least three business days per quarter.
• Other duties as required or assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising or related discipline;
• Minimum of five years media sales experience, with minimum of two years in a management role; experience at building local revenue programs;
• Experience with both ad agency and direct sales strategies and tactics;
• Expert knowledge of all facets of advertising including digital sales and marketing;
• Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills; both written and oral;
• Creative, idea-generating, non-transactional sales mentality with ability to motivate others;
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and proficient in MS Office;
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, closing, analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills;
• Ideal candidate will be self-directed, able to react to change productively, and meet projected deadlines;
• An exceptionally positive attitude with a relentless “get it done” work ethic and the ability to perform all the duties and responsibilities as described.
