Position Overview
We are looking for a strong finance leader to lead finance efforts for Autodesk’s Construction Business Unit. The role will be the active business partner to the Vice President Construction and will direct the financial planning efforts across Construction, including long-range strategic financial planning of Construction financial performance as we march toward our goal to win in Construction.
The right person for this role will demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration skills, business savvy, financial aptitude, and the capability to work at multiple levels, including high-level strategy and day-to-day financial details. The position will be a key member of the worldwide finance team and will take a lead role in driving awareness and analysis of Construction initiatives across the Finance organization and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
• Partnering/relationship management
• Build partnerships/relationships with other divisions/departments
• Collaborate and influence at the highest level. Partner directly with the VP Construction on all finance-related matters
• Serve as a member of line management staff. Participate actively in Construction staff meetings in a senior finance capacity (a mini ‘CFO’ within the business unit)
• Interface/collaborate with other Finance groups, including Sales Finance, Corporate Development and Corporate Accounting
• Manage Construction Finance team, which initially consists of 1 finance professional; however, a key near-term objective for the role will be to determine Construction finance support needs and work with finance leadership to secure sufficient resources to build out a team
• Lead creation of a revenue and spend forecast process as well as drive long-term financial planning (3+ years) for Construction; for revenue forecasting, collaborate closely with Sales Finance to create the most efficient process that leverages existing processes wherever possible
• Provide key financial support to aid in business decision-making and strategic planning, including the preparation of forecasts, financial models, and investment analyses. Examples include BIM360 packaging decisions and construction budget optimization efforts
• Fully understand the Construction product portfolio, the market and competitive environment as well as the business dynamics. Provide perspective and valuable input to the Construction management team in these areas
• Lead or participate in cross-functional, intra-divisional, and/or global finance projects. Drive efficient, consistent systems and processes, leveraging best practices and benchmarking where possible
• Manage all closing activities, including month-end accruals
• Recommend and implement process improvements to achieve better results. Follow standards and ensure compliance with policies as defined by Corporate
• Help to enforce controls to fulfill fiduciary responsibilities, including required approvals
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (finance, business or accounting) and 15+ years of progressively responsible business experience, preferably supporting a division or business unit in a large organization
• Experience in the software industry and an understanding of related finance and accounting issues is important
• Solid understanding of the organizational role of finance within a company
• Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills
• Independence, excellence and integrity in decision-making, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
• Business acumen and the capability to influence the strategic direction of the business at the executive level
• Interest in learning about our product offerings and related strategy. A focus on becoming a subject matter expert in this area
• Strong willingness to learn and the ability to work with multiple personality types
• A level of comfort with ambiguity and change as the business evolves
• Approximately 25-35% travel required, primarily to the Autodesk Boston office
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA with an emphasis in finance or accounting preferred
