Position Overview
The Director Human Resources Technology (HRT) will be charged with planning and directing the strategic vision for Autodesk’s HR Technology group. This individual will play a lead role in the governance of Autodesk’s Human Capital Management (HCM) systems and processes, and will establish the ongoing direction for developing and expanding new and existing HR’s systems (Workday, Taleo, ServiceNow, Saba) to support HR’s short term and long-range goals.
Reporting to the Sr. Director Digital Employee Experience, the Director HR Technology will partner with the broader HR Team and Digital Enterprise Services (DES) in a role with global reach, touching several organizations throughout the company.
Responsibilities
• Lead the development of HR technology 3-year strategies, objectives and roadmap, which support HR’s and Autodesk's business goals
• Provide leadership to the Human Capital Management (HCM) Program Governance process. Enroll high level sponsors for new implementations and projects. Manage and ensure the effectiveness of process for prioritizing system enhancements, new functionality, etc. Partner with HR functions, global teams and cross-functional stakeholders to define business requirements and translate business needs into multi-year and tactical system implementation plans, including project prioritization, scheduling and resource planning.
• Manage corporate sponsored HR applications on a worldwide basis (e.g., Workday, Taleo, ServiceNow, Saba). Act as key participant on the management teams of both HR and IT groups to balance needs of the organization and available resources. Partner with IT, Payroll, and vendors in support of HR systems requirements including system upgrades (to ensure that the utilized SaaS platforms are managed and interfaces to integrated systems are maintained), maintenance and enhancements; direct the effective management and support of HR systems which involves ensuring effective performance of existing systems, identification and support of system enhancements or fixes as required, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of external and best practice trends for future system needs. Influence HRIS system vendors to incorporate features/functions of interest to Autodesk
• Serve as steward of user experience for HR's systems; monitor system adoption and user feedback; develop processes, tools, support materials, and training to achieve desired employee and manager self-service strategy. Provide escalated support for user problems and issues
• Manage the Master Worker Data maintained by HR, including the data security, data reporting, and data integrity. Ensure proper audit controls are in place between HR, Payroll, vendors and other users, so that data feeds, reports and interfaces can rely on integrity of Master Worker Data. Develop methodology and process for the proactive use of HR data analytics. Assess current and future sources of data, and how data can be manipulated in the short- and long-term to aid in fact-based decision making by ADSK leadership. Oversee creation of user report library, analytics, and dashboards
• Lead the implementation of process improvements and innovative tools throughout HR to increase overall efficiency and effectiveness. Review current HR processes, and identify opportunities for improvement based on elimination of redundant effort and manual intervention. Partner with other departments to drive alignment with upstream and downstream processes and ensure adoption of efficient, scalable end-to-end processes. Ensure HR Technology staff are trained in process improvement techniques and are focused on identifying opportunities to leverage technology to automate processes
• Responsible for the design, implementation and support of HR systems with the goal of leveraging technology and adopting best practices from benchmark companies to improve overall HR efficiency
• Coordinate the gathering of requirements, selection, and implementation of future technology solutions and/or upgrades in support of the Human Resources organization. Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies (e.g. RPA, AI, ML, etc.) to enhance end-user productivity and effectiveness, as well as to improve the capabilities and usability of existing systems. Oversee the specification, development, testing and implementation of new or redesigned systems, reports and policies and procedures for internal use. Remove redundant systems and processes where appropriate
• Manage aspects of HR operational activities, including I-9 process, managing new hires/internal transfer process, employment verification, maintenance/retention of electronic HR files/records and supporting users/system, and other department activities; ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements
• Manage and develop HR Technology managers and staff. Fully responsible for selection, mentoring, coaching, performance management and assessment, and rewards and recognition. This includes team building with those from other units who are key stakeholders to HR systems projects. Ensure proper performance management and rewards/recognition guidelines are followed within own team. Participate in the budget planning and reporting for operational and development costs of the HCM platform. Budget and plan for HR Technology processes and projects and manage any consulting or third-party contracts directly related to the HCM platform development.
• Hold regular business reviews with external platform providers (joint activity with IT and Procurement).
• Ensure the development of proper training and documentation for system use and maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
• 15 + years relevant experience: BA/BS or equivalent work experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strategic thinking and demonstrated ability to see the big picture, to understand and integrate disparate ideas and interests, and to develop a long-range vision and multi-year systems roadmap and innovative solutions
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and execution skills, including a desire to roll up sleeves to prioritize work and meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders from across functional areas, by creating collaborative relationships, establishing credibility, and motivating/influencing others
• Demonstrated communication and change management skills, including the ability to effectively translate technical jargon/concepts for a lay audience, and to effectively and proactively inform, convince, influence, and educate executives, cross-functional stakeholders and team members
• Experience managing major SaaS-based HRIS products (e.g., Workday, Taleo, ServiceNow, Saba), with general familiarity with the future direction of these platforms and functionality likely in future releases
• Solid understanding of HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT business processes and how they impact HR systems
• Proven ability to translate business needs and requirements to actionable information usable in system configuration
• Experience in the implementation and use of HR analytics, and the development of dashboards and other support tools for decision making
• Strong business process skills and experience leading projects and teams to improve/optimize processes, analyze workflow design and drive end-to-end cross-function process alignment
