We are looking for a highly motivated Manager, Tax Accounting to join our team in San Francisco. This person will support all aspects of Airbnb’s quarterly and year-end tax provision, internal controls, Federal and State compliance, tax process improvements, controversy, income tax accounting associated with M&A transactions, and various ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ASC 740, a proven ability to be adaptable in a fast-paced environment, strong communication skills, and a desire to continually learn and take on new challenges. This position will report to the Director, Tax Accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare/review quarterly and year-end global tax provision and workpapers under ASC 740, including financial statement footnote disclosures, ETR, current and deferred provision, ASC 718 computations, and ASC 740-10 (FIN48) calculations and documentation
• Prepare/review required technical memos related to income tax provision
• Prepare/review tax purchase accounting entries and memos for acquisitions, and manage related filing requirements
• Monitor tax accounting guidance, SEC reporting pronouncements, and federal, state and international tax law changes and determine the impact on the Company’s financial statements
• Assist with SOX documentation and control testing for tax provision process
• Manage and review Federal and State tax returns, estimates, and extensions and related workpapers prepared by outside providers, including R&D credit study
• Manage tax compliance calendar to ensure all filings are timely completed, including federal, state and international
• Assist in responding to audit requests and inquiries from tax authorities
• Assist in special projects such as improvements to the tax provision process, collaborating cross-functionally for tax accounting, disclosure matters and cross-functional initiatives
• Prepare/manage various ad hoc tax filings including property tax, SF gross receipts, Delaware franchise tax, etc.
• Prepare/review various tax workpapers, journal entries, and reconciliations as part of accounting close
Qualifications
• 8+ years of progressive experience at a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department of a multinational company
• Must have knowledge of ASC 740 and hands-on experience with multi-jurisdictional public companies
• Solid understanding of Federal and State tax law and knowledge of international and tax reform issues
• Self-starter, strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, able to work with all levels of employees and across functional groups
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated individual who embraces change and is a champion of continuous improvement
• Strong MS Excel skills required, experience with provision software and/or tools a plus
• Experience in an ERP environment and accounting experience a plus
• CPA strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s in Accounting; Master’s in Taxation or LLM a plus
