The A&R Operations position will act as the project manager for recording projects and liaison between A&R, artists/management and a variety of other departments within Epic to ensure the successful and timely delivery of album releases by successfully accomplishing
the following:
Responsibilities
Oversee the progress and delivery of each project including:
• Liaison between A&R, artist/management and all involved in recording process
• Managing master recording calendar
• Managing the mixing and mastering process
• Coordinating with A&R assistants to book sessions at recording studios
• Coordinating with A&R assistants with to book session related travel
• Coordinating with A&R assistants and coordinators to collect label copy
• Working with A&R, artist/management and A&R Administration to create recording budgets
• Negotiate competitive rates with studios, engineers, mixing, mastering
• Assist as needed with A&R Admin and Business Affairs on sample and side artist clearing
• Keep possession of and archive music assets
• Build strong relationships with artist/management to ensure trust with music
• Review demos submitted
• Provide music to entire staff (promotions, marketing, licensing)
• Work with A&R Admin to make sure all invoices are paid in a timely manner
• Prepare music for company presentations
• Organize Artist showcase
• Represent the A&R staff in weekly meetings - business affairs, recording costs, scheduling
Qualifications
• College degree required
• At least 2 years of prior A&R, Studio, or A&R Administration experience desired
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to pick-up computer systems/programs quickly
• Solid understanding of accounting, budgets and other financial concepts. Facility w Excel spreadsheets required
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong people and relationship building skills
• Outstanding project management skills
• Solid understanding of the recording process
• Awareness about how to keep costs down and broker deals for cheaper rates
• Prior experience working closely with artists and senior-level executives a plus
• Flexibility with hours - Must be available to travel and attend evening showcases and recording sessions as required
